Should Mark be the front face?

After having taken a few days to process the Ziz interview, which was well done, thanks Ziz and also Mark and Jonathon for taking the time taking, and with Chris no longer around.

Should Mark now be the face of the interviews?

Mark helped alot with getting the interview flowing in the earlier stages and also helped it flow throughout. This isn't any disrepect to Jonathon, I think it's healthy for developer leads to have differential opinions, the end result isn't a one man vision.

That said, Mark handled the questions and answered them in a 'feel good' way. Whilst he didn't agree with everthing, he presented his answers in a way that wasn't dismissive, regardless of how he felt. He presented in a way that, whilst he may not have agreed, there may be a way of finding a middle ground.

Watching Mark, felt like watching Chris earlier on. Good constructive answers that felt like they were hitting on resolutions for the people asking, whether or not that they were answers that might not be liked. I personally feel that the rapport he built within the community for his responses has earned him alot of trust. The actual follow up with the most recent patch further cements this.

As mentioned this is NOT a dig at Jonathon, I'm sure he's just as passionate as Mark is. However, Mark just conveyed the interview in a way that worked, and I could definitely see him as "Hi, this is Mark from Grinding Gears Games".

Is this a democracy, are we allowed to vote who is leading the project?
If so I would 100% vote Mark, Jonathan has lost whatever respect I had left for him. He had a vision and his vision is just how he experiences the game, how he plays the game.
If we're not playing it in the same way, it is us that is wrong.
The game let's you vendor items and Jonathan claimed he always disenchants and has a great time. Jonathan even acknowledged he's never played the game vendoring items.
Chris Forbid if we play the game a different way to the way he plays and has a different experience!
Why let us sell items for gold then if it's going to make our experience misserable.

But agree, Mark respected the question and the audience, provided feedback, started a discussion.
Jonathan was dismissive, he has an audience that he wants to please and nobody else. Which is basically if the game is not for you, stop playing.
I can assure you if Mark was under as much pressure his demeanour would be a lot worse as well.

Its funny watching people who think they are intelligent just blast the nearest most obvious person because they think they are in total control and puppeteering everything when there's a lot going on at a huge company and every day is non-stop discussions.

I already feel like Mark is one of the front faces for the game... I think Jonathan is fine where he is at, but like the current dynamic.
I got the sauce.

POE2 enjoyer.
jon was under immense pressure.

there was a lot of things he believed were things that the community would love but backfired spectacularly.

i think this patch should have just been a "overperforming skills/build" nerf and ends there.

but nope. ggg had to do further rebalancing which made the game harder. so now the feedback is muddled. with many are outraged at the nerfs and want the game to be more poe1 while there are some legitimate outrage on the game just being unfun after the patch. like player ailment threshold being nerfed.

i find it weird so many people still speak fondly of chris.

he is not without fault.

whenever anyone mentions that GGG promised POE2 will not affect POE1, you can barely find any record of this. EXCEPT one clip where chris specifically mentions this. everyone else has been extremely careful not to make this promise.

i may have some disagreements on how jon handles things but lets be real. he did waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than most people would have.

If you think streamers and people who want to play like in PoE1 is what "the community wants", you are more than wrong. There's no disconnect from GGG, only entilted players. You only suddently like Mark because he said things you wanted to hear. Jonathan is a director, if you can't at least try to understand his point of view, you are biased.

They should put Mark full time on POE1 and keep that game going because that's the game I really want to play. But I want to play new leagues every 3 or 4 months, I'm not a standard player.
Confirmation bias, you only like Marks takes because he tells you what you want to hear, never alone if its good for the game or not.

Yeah this.

Don't know why GGG has never hired another dev or 2 to "learn" how to make PoE because now what we have is clusterfuck extraordinaire
