Parry and blocking has a fundamental design flaw that needs to be changed.

How come I can't block AoE damage, but GGG can block me?
The fundamental flaw now is active block sucks, they need to implement universal telegraphs for boss attacks that cannot be block to identify them clearly.

It's almost all boss attacks that aren't 'basic-attacks'. You can't block AoE damage in general. Even Darksouls games let you block flames and explosions with shields.

Hits, strikes and projectiles can be blocked blocked and evaded only.
You need Warbringer turtle charm ascension to be able to passively block casts and slams but only passively.

Red glow enemy attacks can not be blocked. Those meant to be dodgerolled.
Good luck to pinpoint out in that visual overload who is attacking with an unavoidable attack, because in SoulsLike games there only you and the boss.

Not a swam with a hundred of mods stacked.
The most calming point in POE2 when you hit the boss arena on a map.

Sorry for disagreeing with all of you. Parry and Raise Shield is the most Powerful Mechanic a Melee can AND SHOULD use. Maybe your set Gems and/or Passives let you think in other dimensions, but youre definitly wrong by generalizig such a statement.

Active/block IS the most OP defensive mechanic in the game... Against strikes and projectiles only. Block is mechanically useless against AoE attacks though and active block skills have no modifier to allow them to block AoE. This creates a weird dissonance where blocking is either overpowered or completely useless depending on the programmed tags on an enemy's attack. This feels bad to play with, especially in boss fights, and could be equalized much better. Hence the original thread suggestion.

My opinion is that parry and active block are perfectly fine as they are (in bossing).
They are so broken for bossing.

Parrying is a tool in this game that is situationally useful. When it's useful though it is very impactful. It completely changes the experience of how you can play boss fights on a fresh playhtogh during the campaign.

For bossing, parrying is really op.
It rewards those you take the time to learn boss patterns and behaviors.

The devs didnt even add a timed mechanic to parry. Just hold it if you want.
The reason why you may not want to run parry is because the current gameplay footage we see are people killing bosses in a seconds...but at that stage...all meaningful combat has been lost.

During that stage of your character when you are weak, parrying is an incredibly fun and versatile tool.
Plus for mapping, the animation cancel with parry is much smoother than raise shield. That tech for movement alone is worthwhile I think...

I hope you eat these words when you get late endgame.

t15 map and just spiced up with a small delirium. Just 27% delirious enemies, and that's nowhere since you can juice it up to 150%

You will get stunlocked.
Which I though isn't possible for me, since I have stun threshold, and raising shield makes you immune to light stun.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA
Now I die every pack, because I though I am lagging. No. My attack animations are canceled by light stuns. Would been horrible to have cooldown on skills, but cane even attack because I get light stunned.

Oh wait... I can raise my shield to be immune to light stun.
Guess what?!
HEAVY STUN for 3 seconds b*tch!

Now I try to finish the map as the most cowardly tank in history... XD

Your Respond proofs 100%, you had not build your Build, rather than copy-Paste it from anywhere... You dont know anything about creating Sustaining Builds.
