Thanks GGG Team

The more people you try to cater to, the higher the cost of that effort
You're also assuming that the whales are in that 10k group of people. if you have 500k vs 10k whats the chances there will be more whales in the 500k group of fans?

with 500k players, if 1% are whales then you have 5000 whales spending 1k or more.

with 10k players, if 1% are whales then you have 100 whales spending 1k or more.

The whale theory is the reason i think melee skills without projectiles don't get to be overpowered because they sell less mtx and ggg knows who spends money on their game. People that want 30 projectiles wiping screens.

For most melee skills ggg doesnt even bother making mtx for them. I believe this has been blamed on rigs in the past. That was also blamed for a lot of melee downsides yet they didnt add any of that new tech qol into maces. and gave all the moving while attacking to spells/bow builds.

Those are made up numbers, i was being intentionally hyperbolic to make a point...maybe i should have opened with, "go google the Pareto Principle".

These arent random concepts I made up, they are standard industry practices that are well established and have been studied extensively. GGG is no stranger to them, even before tencent was involved. It would be naive to think GGG is the only f2p game out there that doesnt follow these practices, hell, they are one of the PIONEERS of the concept, along with warframe. I have video breakdowns as well, if you are interested, PM me

"In many free-to-play games, a small percentage of players—often referred to as whales—account for a disproportionately large share of revenue. This is commonly described by the "80/20 rule" (or Pareto principle), where roughly 20% of players generate 80% of the revenue, though in some cases, it’s even more extreme, with estimates suggesting 1-5% of players (the whales) can account for 50-90% of income."
