Please add a Ruthless option for POE2!

I would like more item restriction and a more roguelike feel. I know I can self-impose these things but it's not quite the same.

I would also love a league wherein skills were actually randomized somehow such as with drops. One could just play normally and have fairly easy access, or play a ruthless style mode where it was more limited.


Please let me turn up the pain!

Also please note:

CHALLENGE =/= TEDIUM

E.G. simply turning up the XP penalties for death or adding health to things is not fun or challenging, its just tedious.

I think they should add some challenging mode to the game. However I would dislike it being a mere copy of "rutheless". PoE 2 is a new game and something new should be developed for it.

I would find finding leveling uniques that I can actually build a powerful build around more fun than randomizing skills. In a sense this would randomize skills, since the best build for that character would include the unique which synergizes only with certain skills. It would also add some thought / creativity as "how to make a build with this unique item?".

My ideas for such a mode so far:
-prevent the player from really overpowering the enemy ever - that means that certain uniques that create gamebreaking builds would need to either be removed or heavily nerfed
-a strong focus on balancing the game in such a way that the player constantly feels challenged while also having engaging combat (no artificial difficulty by doing things like just making monsters super spongy or adding lots of player oneshots)
-stronger bosses / longer / more epic boss fights, bosses gain some additional mechanics

Another mode would just divide the playerbase even more and that's not what they want... they've already mentioned it once in an interview.

They've already nerfed builds and buffed mobs with 0.2.0 and this journey is not over yet due to theyr vision.

Simply don't copy + paste meta builds, play off meta skills/classes without any guides and this on SSF Hardcore with the goal to beat all T4 endgame content....I gurantee you won't need a ruthless mode this way. ;)

While I understand incentive for ruthless, post was cleary made by ruthless andy - the game is already in the place where it is ruthless most of the time compared to PoE 1.

I agree that people have the option to make it more challenging but as a private league - if you want to make a private league with a "ruthless" option, yes but it should not be into the main game as an option.

Exactly...And they've said in one of the latest interviews that they will implement Private Lagues with different rules and settings to chose from before 1.0 release, maybe even with 0.3.0. ;)

Did you complete all the challenges in the game to come up with the desire to have a ruthless mode? I ask because the game is already ruthless as it is.

I always make my own builds, and I find the game to be too easy, largely due to the deluge of items it gives you. Hardcore is not a mechanic I enjoy. I sometimes play where I have to roll for what item i have to delete if I die though.

As for dividing the playerbase, I don't see what your point could possibly be. I don't see anyone in my hideout anyway, and I don't participate in the economy...that would take away the entire point of the game...to find things.

I play with friends but I don't play with random people... do you?

I noticed that one can make a special league but that it doesn't have the option to lower the drop rates of items. I know I can filter things out, but it doesn't work the same way because there are just too many items.

I want limitations to force creativity, not just to only see the best stuff or specific stuff.
Pretty sure Ruthless is already active lol, this is "THE BIG VISION", not sure how they fell this out of touch with their fans, but here we are... We need an option for the opposite of this crappy vision of theirs.... Ruthless was clearly hated on PoE 1, so it should of been no surprise at all to them to see PoE 2 so hated.
