From a completely new PoE player: Campaign seems too easy
The campaign isn't the game. That's the problem. In POE1 (and it will be the same in POE2), the real game starts when you finish the campaign. The real game is the endgame.
Putting more effort into the campaign is pointless, because most players are going to speedrun it to get to the endgame. The bulk of GGGs effort should be on the endgame, not the campaign. |

" This is not about experience but about balance. Want difficult fights? go level cold sorc. Want to kill A1 boss in 5 sec? Go play monk with a bell. |

" I don't agree. This is the hardcore/long term player bias (I don't mean hardcore mode). Most people who play the game will not even finish it. Many will finish it and call it a day. Some will only play with their friends. I'm not saying these groups of casual players should be catered to, but would be detrimental for GGG to ignore them, which I'm sure they know. |

" You can form an opinion at any time. And it's probably more important to hook players at the start than hope they'll get through the unfun stages for a (possible) reward once they reach endgame. It's a bit like religions that make you miserable while alive but tell you you'll be rewarded for your suffering in the afterlife. However, yours is quite a special position: You play a mercenary, a class of which I (not having played one, yet) have not heard much good. You want a slow and more difficult game - which GGG actually aimed for with PoE2 - while others don't want that and think that PoE2 is too hard/ boring/ tedious at the start. So you seem to actually be the kind of player GGG had in mind. And yet, they seem to have missed the spot and they couldn't convince you. Anyway, perhaps you can come back once the game is complete and give it another try. Or you don't. You do you. Have fun. Bird lover of Wraeclast
