Something has to change and fast

If this game gets any more RNG it may as well be an idler lootbox simulator.
900+ hours here. Completely agree. The end-game is a disaster!

I agree with all that has been said. But, if you aren't enjoying the game, stop playing. I quit a week ago and glad I did. Moved on to last epoch and loving it. I won't be playing poe2 until loot is fixed. Hands down worst loot in any game I have ever played.

Thats why Omens exist. You can reroll bad affixes, but then Omens have to be way way cheaper and more frequent.

Yeah, but even the Omens are layered with rng. Take Omen of Whitling. Chaos orb removes the lowest tier affix and replaces it. Given that your item has 6 affixes it will always either replace a prefix or a suffix, depending what the lowest tier is. This makes the potential pool of affixes from which the replacement will be smaller, yet still it might be complete garbage. For instance if it is a staff and a suffix is the lowest tier, the replacement will be from a pool of 11-16 suffixes AND even if it is a desired suffix the roll on the tier has to be good too.

So we are again in the predicament that attempting to use Omens are just pulls on the slot machine with slightly improved odds, producing trash in like 99.9% of cases.

While yes, your odds increase if you have more drops, the numbers are still so against you that it's crazy.

GGG doesn't seem to understand that slot machines only work because they reward player on a regular basis. Every 5-10 button pushes you win something, maybe small, but something. And sometimes you hit it big. But this PoE slot machine doesn't give you anything for hundreds if not thousands of pulls on the lever.

So even if they would turn up the drop rate for omens and greater essences by 10, hell even by 100, you would still probably get nothing decent because the rng is so crazy.

It's honestly baffling to me that GGG thinks the current state of crafting is good.

I absolutely do not understand why they removed alteration orbs. The lack of alts has made crafting infinitely worse than it otherwise would be.
Same. The lack of determinism at any level of this game is astounding.
With the state that the game is currently, bringing alteration orb wouldn't do any good anyway. What scare me the most tought is how they will approach the problem. If they think about implementing league mechanic that help a bit, accumulating method like Delve, harvest, etc league by league then it will take way too long till the game is in a confortable crafting place.

They need too overhaul the whole mechanic.
Imagine you're playing an MMORPG. You go to an NPC and get their quest. You play for 30-60 minutes acquiring the quest requirements. You return to the NPC to get your quest reward. The NPC rolls a dice and because you didn't roll 90 or higher out of 100, you do not get the quest reward; you may try again in 3 hours.

That's Path of Exile 2. Enjoy!
Completely agree. I spent hours circling an unreachable citadel and it made me realize that I was just clearing map nodes as a chore to reach citadels. Mapping should not feel this way.

The league mechanics they chose to include all work best on wide open maps layouts, but the majority of layouts are a tangled mess of corridors and dead ends. They mentioned at the last major patch that they were going to tune maps to make even the hallway mazes feel 'special', but I haven't noticed any difference.

The lack of choice is absolutely demoralizing.

Funny you made a post about this today because just a few hours earlier, I made a post complaining about the same thing. I am glad you expanded on all the issues me and all the players are facing. The amount of RNG in this game is astounding and players have no agency.

I have close to 400 hours in but I am so frustrated by end game that I am also close to quitting and coming back when the game is officially released. I've done like 40-50 ritual maps with no audience and the good omen I saw, I didn't have enough tributes to defer. I also got fucked when I almost made it to a citadel and there is a river in the middle. Also a node not being connected is a pain. And then if you fail a citadel, it's enough to make you rage quit.

I am just astounded that GGG thinks this is what players want. The game is super punishing. I understand if you want to play hardcore, but for casual players this is a disaster.
