On this particular part I agree. But then again, that is what is intended right? For it to be dangerous if you get "stuck" in it. You do understand mechanics are in place to take hp away from you, not heal you in the maps right?


Im ok with dangerous, but its overtuned. In high tier maps, max res, simply running over it to path can deal a significant amount of damage to energy shield, its more dangerous that corrupted blood/pooled blood on the ground, and WAY more dangerous that any poison, and im not even Chaos capped on my monk and id rather run through poison and blood over burning ground


It's fine that it's stronger than blood/poison on the ground because it's a map mod, not something random enemies do as a skill or on death. 25% ele pen would be absurd to have as a random mod on an enemy, but works fine as a "guess I'll risk it, or pass on this one" map mod.

As a PoE1 comparison, remember they took reflect off individual mobs but kept it on map mods? Same kinda thing.

That being said, the enemies that create the fire burst circle under their feet should do damage like all the other versions, but NOT leave burning ground where the circle was (melee vs bosses that don't move but have that affix is really dumb).

If we remove any semblance of danger from the game then what are we left with?
Diablo 4? We already have that. So why come and try to change something different into something that already exists? No shade on D4, but I can literally put a piece of moldy bread over the keyboard and it will somehow play it to endgame. I honestly don't want this game to turn into that.
Yeah I think everyone hates it but, I dont necessarily think it needs completely removing. It needs changing.

for example, "patches of burning ground".. Really means "Patches of normal ground" 90% of the ground is burning, so your looking for the small safe area.. not the small burning area. its too much and its too strong.

It needs toning down so that its more like 40% of the floor is burning, and then then maybe the damage tweaked.. but right now its far too strong.

It also doesn't help that ground effects are often hard to see due to other skills. Once you start fighting a mob, chances of seeing that burning ground, underneath the hail of lightning thats coming down is slim.

If they removed burning ground, i wouldn't be unhappy. However, I think changing it so that it doesnt cover anywhere near as much floor as it currently does, maybe make it more obvious too, and then tweak damage numbers so it isn't doing so much damage.
I don't know if you were here at launch, but it HAS been toned down. It's probably about 40-50% of the ground now, it WAS like 90%. Like...I went from full health to 0 just LOOKING for a safe patch to stand on back then. XD

That said, it isn't a thing I'll die on a hill for, so if they make it less annoying, sure :D

It's funny, I have a tab for T14s, T15s, "Oops All Prefixes" corrupted T15s, Pref/Suff corrupted T15s, "Oops All Suffixes" T15s, T16s...

and I don't have one for burning ground maps to use on open layouts.

Hate it with a passion. I cant understand why ice abilities cant put out the flames. If i have to run it, its usually on short maps like towers with enough space to avoid.

Still garbage though

This is actually something I've thought about and have severe internal conflicts about. Yes, I'd love interactions like that. No, I don't want to give up hope that "frostfire" will be an element one day. :D
Beyond how wrong the DPS of burning ground is , I'm more fed up by the absolute spam of ground AoE when playing a map with these waystone modifiers .

- Make these Burning/Shocking/Chilling Ground AoE 25% bigger
- Cut down the quantity of Ground AoE by 75%

That would make playing these modified maps less cancer-inducing , especially the indoor/corridors maps .
