Experience loss penalty

If there was a "no xp penalty" option I bet 90% of xp defender would toggle it. And then they would complain that the game has no challenge and xp is too fast.

You can't have a no xp loss option players need to play with the same set of rules. You can have a no xp loss server or "easy league"eventually i'll definitly not play it but i'm all for it.

It is quite possible people won't reach lvl 100 without penalty, for a lot of personal reasons. Maybe build caps out on dps, maybe you found cool item for another build, maybe you have real life too.

Yet without penalty poe as a whole won't have adamant association with frustration spikes and constant stress during play (from realizing you can kermit any moment and nothing you can do about it). It also won't bring so much negative attention to lack of balance and build disparity. Even if you quit, returning to play next league remains more attractive option. And as always, more players = more sales.

This is true only for multiplayer (party in poe case), and of course our stellar race events. As long as you're solo your settings are your own. As for economy (before it falls apart from hyperinflation in 2 weeks regardless of settings), a separate league will work.
I really do not understand the arguments from people defending the XP loss. Players want to experience the higher points added to their characters at a reasonable, enjoyable pace and move on to the next character. Or they want to play the same character at their different ascendency path. However, the absurd XP loss that sets back the player to have to play several areas to gain them back is just not fun.
And people say you SHOULD NOT die as much. Another absurd comment. Not everyone wants to play that same 'youtube' build on their characters to reach their end...because that is the only viable build path that makes you win level 100. This defeats the purpose for the so many options on how to build your character to your liking and still win. If that player is enjoying his build but is a bit more difficult to forge forward with their build through endgame...don't drain their progress every time they die. They just need to fight through slower. BUT DONT STEAL THEIR TIME INVESTED!
There is a very simple problem to understand here and that is to reduce the XP loss down to 2% or something...

Obviously there are META builds. Something would always be stronger than average. But, please, don't say that only the "same 'youtube' build" would be able to reach 100 when it is just a problem with players that don't know how to build your own char and have to follow a guide. There is no problem in following a guide, but don't act like it is all there is to play. If you go to poe2.ninja, you will see dozens of different builds reaching 100 and even more that got 90+ and could be able to reach further as well if the player wanted/had time.

That is true that some skills are just that bad. But it is far from the "only a couple of youtube builds are viable". In the end, reaching 100 is more about a knowledge (how to play your build efficiently) and time issue than anything else.

"Dozens of different builds"
Me: Looks at POE 2 Ninja.
Me: Sees that 8 of the top 20 are Spark mage.

Obviously there will be more META builds on the top list. It doesn't mean that you can't use a filter to find others builds...
I tried. And without having 6 weeks of vaccation in total I would not even have gotten to 97. The only argument people have is do not die. I am not dyiing. So now what? This makes no sense at all. As was said before. There are only meta builds that can do it in the first place. And it is not because they blow up every screen every frame. Everything else would be even slower. With the gamepace they have shown us in the demos back then you will need more than a year to get 1 char there as of right now. I really thought that all the people that wanted to play a better D2 in the first place will get the problem here. But for me it is Last Epoch now at the 17th. Well played keepers.

Me: filters down level 100 characters. 97 different characters, cool (but not really when there's like a million or more total players)

Me: filters down by gear and skills. Sees 88 of them need Ingenuity belt & 45 of them use Spark.
