Sorceress dialogs in Act 2 made me dislike her ...

Personally I'm struggling more with the sorc's voice actor, particularly the direction they went down with regards to her jarring accent. I'm saying this as a central european who spent several years in Africa in his youth lol.

"A new RRrrrRRRrrrrRealm of power"...

Pretty stark contrast to the monk, who is simply phenomenal. Some of the lines he's given are pretty cringe, but every word out of that actors mouth is delivered with seriousness and intent.

Anyway, sorry for 'hijacking' your thread.

Welcome to path of exile. The player characters are not nice people. The witch is a literal sociopath.

Well she did offer a practical solution to slavery tho, did she not? xD

She sees a caravan pulled by ton of half-alive slaves
(paraphrased) Naaaaah you just don't understand our culture.

She rescues Risu
(with disgust in her voice) "Don't touch me Faradin"

I know we don't play some paragons of morality,
but playing hateful slave apologist seems ... you know ... kinda bad.

Did you never wonder why she's standing at a gibbet in the intro?

Witch you mean?
I'm 100% fine with the characters having different personalities and being overall bad people and anti-heroes.

If you want to play a hero, play the Warrior, he's a good guy who generally dislikes assholes and tries to help people as best as he can.
Warrior: "Ah finally, people! Oh wait, not quite: treasure hunters"

I've yet to play PoE 2 witch, but I wonder if PoE 1 witch can be beaten. Anyway, I digress. PoE writing has the motto "nobody is completely good or evil". I mean consider what PoE 1's endgame story currently is - you side with an eldritch child who is "playing with dolls" with an endless appetite for violence. You do this because you are fighting incarnations of hedonistic consumerism (championed by Eater of Worlds) and hyperactive FOMO doomscrolling (championed by Searing Exarch). Heck, you can argue the Maven is an ARPG gamer. Fantasy mirrors of our internet-age society, not some ultimate evils.

Yes it'd be so easy to alter the writing to blunt the offensive parts of characters. I say PoE writing would lose what's special about it if it did that. People you'd absolutely want to stay away from in real life are getting together to fight for survival against other, flawed humans or their ideals.
Meanwhile the witch; "This operation would be more efficient, if they were dead" :))

I love it that GGG dares to go where modern snowflakery dies.
When night falls
She cloaks the world
In impenetrable darkness
It is really cool that the different characters are actually different people and react to events according to their culture and personality. The Sorcesses is Maraketh, so clearly she'd see it as completely normal. The Warrior is Ezomyte, so he's got a very different reactions to the events of the campaign.

And the witch is just a crazy sociopath.
This is the definition of performative activism. Parts of the middle east, asia, and africa still practice slavery to this day and you choose to complain about its depiction in a video game.

Yes this is just a small part of the game, many people won't even notice this.
And yes this isn't in any way focus of the game.
More reason to just change this two (or more) dialogue options
- For Slaves: My people, keep traditions that are too old.
- For Risu: (with reservation) Can I trust you Faradin?
Easy and we play much less horrible person.

i want to play a horrible person.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
