What is the point of the instant death waterbubbles in drowned city?

Hey devs.

I went to the drowned city the first time with a titan I had put together with a lot of effort. Then some random water bubbles appeared. I went past a couple and thought - oh these things slow me down maybe i will freeze if i stay in 1 too long. then suddenly the character is dead from full health... nothing could be done. and yes I play HC.

What is the point of doing something like this into the game? I can understand that if something is going to explode or a hammer is coming down on your head... you wouldnt want to get hit by that..

but when you are slowed down by some aoe effect why would you instantly die to it without any warning beforehand?

this makes no sense and just left me with feelings like annoyance, grief and betrayal towards the game. not a dissappointment towards myself.

please explain your logic........

Instant death if you remain on top of them for 5 seconds isn't quite instant is it?

It's barely impossible to die to one.

Lmfao you're in for a whole load of shit when you get to endgame if you're shocked by this single 1 shot mechanic.

yeah...

the 1 thing that players are to follow in this game to survive is the health bar. and then you ad to your character things that help you keep the health bar full.

so why would you introduce something into the campaign that affects the player in a non lethal way... literally gives you no indication that it is going to be fatal in itself.

and suddenly boom you are dead. you are literally receiving a status ailment not damage. why would there be a mechanic like this that goes against the core logic that is banged to the players head from level 1 that health goes down when you are about to die?

it makes no sense... absolutely no sense.

DEVS it is ok to make the game hard. but taking a piss on people by saying YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN is just stupid.

It's a simple dodge mechanic....just step out.

This is not Diablo 4 where mob/boss abilities do 0 damage and you don't have to care about them.

Now you know it...learn from your mistakes and become a better player, we all do the same. ;)

while I disagree on the d4 part because thats heavily dependent on what content you are doing and character you are playing, I agree with you. The game teaches you from the start to avoid things. When being half way through act 3 you should have learned by now that standing in anything in PoE2 is quite lethal.
I got nuked by this ability the first time I saw it, didn't know what it was. Never happened again ever since. It's fine.

You are so freaking lucky, that you have no idea what lies ahead.
I prefer spending my entire play time around those water witches.

Just wait till the end game...

He didn't know to step out.. He needed to die in HC and waste a couple hours to find that out. Imagine he dodged out just in case, he still wouldn't know, he would just suspect that this is lethal. In this case he would be correct, but what about other cases? That's why this shouldn't be in the game.

If I played HC myself, I would watch every location on youtube beforehand, just to avoid such bad design.

I mean even with super basic knowledge about ARPGs (or games in general) you should know that something that blures your screen while standing in there will kill you.

If you lack even the most basic knowledge, Hardcore mode is probably not the right gamemode for you.....spend 3-4000 hours in normal mode first, learn all mechanics and switch than to HC if you will. ;)

What exactly do you expect?....That all mobs and theyr abilities do 0 damage to you, so you can play HC as complete beginner to the genre and don't die there? XD
