Path of Exile 2 does not have to be Path of Exile 1.
" I still love D2 to this day and play at least a couple of weeks each season, love what they did with the druid in D2R my favorite class now. My biggest issues with poe 2 is the lack of interresting, build defining uniques and i think many areas/maps are way too huge compared to the pace of the game. Played poe 1 since 2013 with probably close to 15k hours, but in the later years it kind of began to feel bloated and unbalanced due to way too many new splinters, currencies and stuff to constantly collect/pick up. On top of this the speed/power creep just became too much and the balancing was based on the top tier best performing builds which meant a lot of funny non meta builds just could not compete anymore or didnt even work at all. D2 got the area size just right :) not too small, not too big but just smack in the middle. Which would u rather have? a huge area with thousands of meaningless white trash mobs and 8-10 rare mobs, or a smaller area with less trash mobs but more magic and rare mobs and a more meaningful combat ?? " D2 for me every zone is memorable. Terror zones breathed such good life -- I wish PoE2 would do something like terror zones so I can re-visit campaign areas. I've genuinely spent more time farming 4-floor trial of sekhemas than maps this ladder =/ and yeah PoE2 has a CONTENT problem i.e. we need more CONTENT not for the endgame to be hashed out.. balance is key, and rapid revisions. GGG needs to stop treating it like a league launch, dont be afraid to break peoples builds every 2-3 weeks, let the players rapidly iterate and learn along w/ the devs |

Outside the "PoE 2 should do more of what it's doing now" and "PoE 2 should be PoE 1 with better graphics," there are so many more groups that want the game to be so many different things.
The game has no idea what it wants to be, and GGG don't seem to be able or willing to say what they want it to be, either. It's also unclear what exactly GGG want from this Early Access. Supposedly feedback, but what kind of feedback? I don't know. GGG have historically not been exactly great at communication, and I really wish they were a bit more clear in that regard. |

" Sad truth is they know what. As I said before, the vision is to sit on two chairs. They want BOTH new people and POE1 people in the game. And everything they do with the game right now comes exactly from this vision. But this won't work. They will have to choose eventually - either make "2024-demo type of POE2" with "meaningful combat" they've actually shown in those vids (but lose all POE1 players because zoom-zoom and 1000 divs per hour won't exist anymore), or make it full POE1-2.0 with fast-easy 2h campaign, endless powercreep and maps done in 30 seconds. There is also a 3rd route. Leave all POE1 players in POE1 and just update it as before with 3-m leagues. But for some reason (and they confirmed it themselves) they want POE1 players to play POE2. Donno why. Maybe the real plan is to shut down POE1 completely, move all players to POE2 making it POE1 2.0 as was planned from the very start and try to attract some +new players with fake promises about "meaningful combat": you see, here is your parry; you see, here is your raise shield; but sorry endgame is 1 button zoom-zoom and will always be. And right now all endgame is designed exactly for 1 button zoom-zoom. Breaches, rituals, delirium, hundreds of very similar maps you must do each spammed with tons of mobs - all that is designed with 1 button zoom-zoom in mind. You are playing endgame incorrectly if you try to approach it with any kind of "meaningful combat". Dernière édition par Azimuthus#1135, le 29 avr. 2025 à 11:55:39

" The funny thing is that if you play PoE 1 on HC, it's actually not that zoomy at all. The game has always been balanced around needing both offense and defense, but if the consequence of completely ignoring defense is maybe losing a few % XP every now and then, since you instantly vaporize everything anyway, you can just ignore it completely. That way your character is always effectively many times stronger than it should be, and that's where the zoom comes from. To be clear, I'm not suggesting "removing SC from the game" or anything, but PoE 1 being as zoomy as it is, is more like an unintended way to be able to play the game that they never completely figured out how to fix for SC. |

" They didn't have to. HC players, just like as SSF players, is a minority. They balance the game around SC with trade only. And this is why you see all these speedy mechanics like breach. Kill as fast as possible, as many as possible. Here are skills for that. Here are supports for that. Here are passives for that. That's the intentional design. |

" Yeah, exactly. That's the weird contradiction of the past few years. On one hand they've been talking about wanting to slow players down, and yet everything in the game encourages fast, glass cannon gameplay. |

" I mean thats what they tried with tying portal system to juice now. Like poe 1 is rarely zoom for me, literally the only time was settlers when I stayed long enough to get a LS trickster up that could facetank God ten times over. All my other characters tho dont reach near that level of zoom. One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.

" This is nowhere near the truth, you clearly havent been part of the community for very long or at least havent been paying attention to what has been going on since the early days of poe 1. Yeah they had a bit of a long break during the holiday season but i think you will find it very hard to find a company in the gaming industry today that spends more time listening to feedback and providing changes than GGG. This doesnt mean i agree with the current direction of poe 2 nor do i disagree on everything they are doing and one thing i do know is, its never going to be poe 1 and for that i am actually glad even though i have played poe 1 for like 15k hours. They dont necessarily need to be online 24/7 making posts on every single minor change or answering every single question on the fly, what they need is viable feedback that they can use to make their decisions and everyone deserves to spend their holidays with their families. And to be honest, i have been part of this community since 2013 so i know exactly how much have changed since then and i know that at some point poe 2 will be in a much better state than today, but im not impatient and i dont expect everything to be fixed within a few days. " Hmm, I've been playing since the Delve league, iirc. Anyway, since Bex left, the communication with the community hasn't been the same. That said, the PoE community has also been... not easy to work with, let's say, so I do understand to an extent. Don't get me wrong—they've been very transparent about changes, patch notes, etc. But it's been more one-directional. Well, that's just my impression anyway. It might just be different from yours.
