Demon Form Suggestions

I have been testing demon form in campaign and it feels pretty good but I noticed a few things that would make it better without being to imbalanced.

1. Currently demon form does not use your weapons stats. This at least for now felt fine except for one thing. The base attributes you get from weapons STR, DEX, and INT at the very least should be be counted with demon form. Because it doesn't use your weapons stats when going demon form there will be times when you go to use a spell and it takes you out of demon form because the only way you have the base stat requirements to even use the spell is because of your weapons. So even if they want to keep it to where it does not use weapon stats it at the very least should keep the stat requirements to use the spells you can use with your weapon equipped.

2. Demon form states that you will exit demon form upon pressing any button that is a non spell. The issue with this is buff skills that you enable before even going into demon form disable the use of demon form. The way the skill is worded I think it would make sense that buff skills can be used but currently do use demon form you must disable all buffs. I believe either the wording needs to be changed to make this more clear or what I personally would like is that if buffs were allowed as you are technically not pressing the buff button after you would enter demon form. But as it stats right now its either or you ether get to use buffs or you get to play demon form. I think from a flavor view it makes the most sense to let them work together but if they don't want that at the very least the wording should me made clear as to why they don't work together.

3. When hovering over your demon flame stacks it should show you the current values that your stats are being effected by like how much life loss per second is happening and how much your damage is being increased by.

So far from my limited testing these were the things I have noticed. Again this could change in end game but as it stands I think these things would make the from feel a lot better especially point number 2 as it would make the form not so restrictive.

They said weapon stats will be affecting even in demon form and that is a bug they are correcting.
honestly I hope so because otherwise the most iconic skill of infernalist is useless for any minion build, that being what most people choose witch for.

I hope they fix that skill asap because for now its almost useless.
I found under certain circumstances while in Demon form it also disregards your helmet. I am actually unsure how I got this to happen.

At first, I was using devouring Diadem for the corpse consume to regen some extra HP, and it stopped working ONLY while in Demon form. I started swapping helmet and noticed it also didn't add my resistances either while in Demon form.

That aside I think OP mentioned everything else I have so far. But I adore Demon mode so far even so, it's very fun!

Is your weapon providing stats that are removed making your helmet un-equippable?

Nope, I think something else triggered it. It seems to be fine today, but I'm keeping an eye out to try and get more info.

I hope this is the case too, and it would actually make the "max 10 Demonflame" node useful, since it would allow summoners to stay in Demonform for the +5 to their minion skills.
+1. It is worth adding that at the moment the demon form is absolutely useless. The bonuses it gives are much less than what a regular weapon can give. (regarding the elemental witch)

I have been running Demon Form as my 1st and 2nd ascendancies for the entire campaign, now into tier 5 maps.

Just for the hell of it, i bought a 1 ex Wand and 1 ex Focus

Wand
Gain 18% of Damage as extra fire damage
43% increased spell damage
41% increased fire damage
+3 to level of all fire spell skills
72% increased chance to ignite

Focus
+26 to maximum energy shield
95% increased spell damage
83% increased fire damage
18% increased cast speed

my sheet avg. dmg per use of fireball is 1265.14 with this setup

my sheet svg. dmg per use of fireball in Demon Form with 10 stacks is 1242

plus, my mana costs are unmanageable in Demon Form. The extra skill levels on the gems take my fireball from 207 mana per cast, to 300 mana per cast, while doing less damage.

Demon Form, and i suspect Shapeshifting in general, is not worth it at all.

Though, the improved dodge is very nice

Infernalist is antithetical to the witch builds in general...

Demon form removing your staff means removing your biggest source of spirit too... meaning you are left casting spells because ALL your minions get despawned. That's half the witch's innate abilities just *poof* gone...

You have an ability that invalidates HALF THE INNATE ABILITIES THE CLASS GETS

No other ascendency does this....

It's the only ability in the entire game so far that pretty much forces you to multiclass
I've been having a ton of fun with demon form, and it's looking decently strong so far. The one thing I would love to see changed is allowing the use of weapon set tree swaps while in form.
Currently, even if the weapon set has no items equipped, casting a skill using a tree other than the "shapeshift" one will take you out of demon form. This seems like a really significant disadvantage that probably wasn't intended? Not being able to have a tree swap for curses, for example, is a really big deal.
Additionally, since demon form gets all its damage scaling from general increased spell damage %, it seems like it would be the archetype that benefits the most from being able to build around multiple damage types/ailments.
If this seemed too strong for whatever reason (I don't believe it would be), I'd much prefer having tree swaps and a slightly weaker form versus what we have now.
