Do physical support gems stack with Added Fire Damage?
So a gem like Melee Physical Damage will be applied first, then Added Fire Damage (which bases it off of your physical).
(If you say "multiplication order doesn't matter", then you don't understand what I said.) |

" I was under the impression that 'added as' and 'increased' always came before 'more/less'. i too fas fo youuuuuuu

" I don't think that applies here, since both of these gems multiply, despite the name. I just want to know if MPD is included in "physical damage" in the description "x% of physical damage added as fire damage". The reason why order matters in this case, is because MPD will not multiply AFD after the fire has already been added, since it's obviously fire damage. But AFD will multiply MPD IF it's factored in before AFD, which is what I'm trying to find out. Dernière édition par PackersFTW#3100, le 26 avr. 2013 à 16:30:43

It's actually this:
Generalized formula: (Base)(Increases)(Effectiveness)(Multiplicatives) If you read what Added Fire Damage is, it states that a percent of your physical damage (base) is added as Fire Damage. This means that the damage from Added Fire Damage can be increased by physical and elemental modifiers. To answer your question, yes. But it still has to follow the damage calculation formula. So then it sounds like Melee Physical Damage and Added Fire Damage will do more damage than MPD and Faster Attacks, especially if I'm using Elemental Weakness. I figured it stacked, just wanted to make sure.

" Hmm. Let me try. Order of operations is insignificant. The whole calculation occurs all at once. AFD behaves as a conversion effect, which will definitely base converted damage off your total physical including the bonus physical damage from MPD. Clear? -- I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. Dernière édition par Zakaluka#1191, le 26 avr. 2013 à 23:47:54

" Ya, that's what I was thinking too, is the operations happen at once; they're separate. AFD just wants to know what's your total physical damage. So anything that boosts that should apply, with some exceptions I'm sure. |

1. Start with base damages.
2. Calculate "converts" and "adds." List the results of any such conversion/adds in their own category. 3. Apply "increased" (and "reduced") modifiers. Conversion/adds get all relevant increases (and reductions) for both their original and destination types. 4. Apply "less" and "more" modifiers; again, conversion/adds count as both types. 5. Sum all like damage types together. EXAMPLE:
Step 1: 50-152 physical 27-54 fire Step 2a (all conv/adds except Cold to Fire): 50-152 * 0.5 = 25-76 physical 50-152 * 1.19 = 60-181 physical-to-fire 27-54 *1 = 27-54 fire 50-152 * 0.4 = 20-61 physical-to-cold Step 2b (all conv/adds including Cold to Fire): 25-76 physical 60-181 physical-to-fire 20-61 * 0.72 = 14-43 physical-to-cold-to-fire 27-54 fire 20-61 * 0.28 = 6-18 physical-to-cold Step 3: 25-76 * (1 + .57 phys + .31 proj) = 47-143 physical 60-181 * (1 + .57 phys + .15 fire + .1 fire + .9 wed + .31 proj) = 181-549 physical-to-fire 14-43 * (1 + .57 phys + .15 fire + .1 fire + .1 cold + .9 wed + .31 proj) = 44-135 physical-to-cold-to-fire 27-54 * (1 + .15 fire + .1 fire + + .9 wed + .31 proj) = 67-133 fire 6-18 * (1 + .1 cold + + .9 wed + .31 proj) = 14-42 physical-to-cold Step 4: 47-143 * 1 = 47-143 physical 181-549 * 1.8 = 326-989 physical-to-fire 44-135 * 1.8 = 80-243 physical-to-cold-to-fire 67-133 * 1.8 = 121-240 fire 14-42 * 1.8 = 26-76 physical-to-cold Step 5: 47-143 physical damage 527-1472 fire damage 26-76 cold damage When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. " No offense, but if a single person gets an answer to my simple question out of your post, I'll eat my hat. |
