Short Question:
Time of need gives us 80% reduced effect of curses
resistance and ailment protection mastery gives us another 20%
Is this then 100% or 84%?
80%, as I don't think curse counts as ailment.
The mastery lets you pick 20% reduced effect of curses on you.

It's 100% (but with the mastery which will reduce the effect of curse, not ailments)
But just to remind you : it's not an immunity, it just reduce the effect.
eg : if the map have curse with 140% increased effect (including atlas awakening), the curse will still have 40% increased effect
eg 2 : if the map have curse with 60% increased effect, the curse will still exist, with 40% reduced effect.

Well, it's 8 nodes for this. It might be possible with tempest shield to get the Spell block.
We loose 4% damage and some ailment avoidance, gain 300 es and some good juicy armour.
But I think we still wait for the exact calculation of Divine Shield ?

I have a feeling this is actually going to be stronger than people here might think. The mastery for Increases and Decreases to Armour apply to Energy Shield Recharge Rate at 20% their value.
I mean, with 5k mana reserved, we get 100% increased armour, which is 20% increased energy shield recharge rate just by itself.
If anything, I think it'll be a really strong set of nodes to be tanky before you can get Skin of the Loyal.

Best to check with a specialist, but I think you are wrong and I saw a similar debate recently:
The reduction we have is not not a curse effect reduction, it is "Effect of Curse on you", which means it is multiplicative with the rest. And if you get 100%, then you multiply something by zero, does not matter how much curse efficiency the mob has.
With my HoP character, I don't recall feeling the effects of curses at all, whether on my resistance (they were barely overcapped) not obvious things like temporal chains.

I really wish you're right and I'm wrong haha !
I never tried, just assumed from some reddit's thread, and potentialy wrong interpretation from me about patch notes

Actually, I don't think this build rely on Energy shield recharge rate, since all of our healing come from es on block.
The 2 passives mentionned is more about increased es and armour + es gained over time on hit. The amount of the es over time is what will defined the usefullness of Divine Shield (and without Divine Shield, it's too much passives "just" for armour and es for too much downsides.)

My current GB version: https://pastebin.com/p3fgcCmM
94k armour, 8k es.
Its a 122 point tree, that is already a strech goal. The last 7 points went to get chaos mastery and will give us 0.9M DPS. So with lvl 92 the tree is finished and the points from there can be spent in more es and with lvl 99 you can decide if you want the damage or put more in def.
I included time of need and added some Quality of life changes to fight ailments and curses. I removed the broken Watchers eye (had 18% instead of max 10%).

Purely based on POB numebers, but allocating "Time of Need" and ailment mastery curse reduction makes you completely immune to curses.
