Is anyone still excited for the update?

I have hype.
We tested it extensively

I am excited to use 3 of the 40 impactfully buffed gems to create an epic build. I am planning on Shield charge cast on crit into searing bonds and self cast scorching ray to create a pentagon in my HO build.

hahaha

Ive played A LOT of leagues, this one and the expansion look fun/good. But I cant get excited about any builds. Ive played em all, many times for some. There are plenty of capable builds for sure, but none get me excited, so guess I will just play whatever and hope I dont get to tired of the build. Kinda hoping the content will carry the fun, since I dont think the build will.

Many plrs hate lab? Ggg make it more needed.

It is called an incentive for players to run it. You still don´t need it any more as before.

Some lab enchants are build enabling... Unfortunatelly.

I don't get why anyone would skip the league about any changes? You loose nothing anyways, you start from 0 in any case when the new league starts?

What I DO hate is when existing chars and builds in standard get wrecked, these are the only ones who are actually hit by any changes.
Imagine having spent thousands of exalts or even a few mirrors on a build to have it no longer work now.

I would hope anyone can understand why these people are upset when these things happen.

Many players hate Sirus? Ggg adding it to maps.
Many plrs hate lab? Ggg make it more needed.
Many plrs love to play specres? Ggg kill that gem coldblood.
Many plrs love necro at whole? Ggg nerf it 5th league in a row.
Many plys hate watchstones grind? Ggg adds more watchstones.

And this is just from the top of my head. There is alot more.

Speaking myself: I lost interest even after second announcemet of the coming league. And the last ones were strictly toxic ones. With lies and false statements. I werent skipped any single league so far for a several years.

But this time — I'm not starting it.
GGG gone too much overboard with nerfs and falled too low in my point of view. Thats kinda picture I have so far.

May be it will help you s bit.
To understand.

I see, thanks for the input!

I don't think you should be thankful for that input given how abjectly fraudulent it is.

I despise the Sirus fight but they aren't adding the full fight to random maps.
The lab isn't any more or less needed than it was in 3.12
Spectres will still be an above average build at equivalent levels of investment.
Oh no a top 3 ascendancy got nerfed again. Guess what, if it's still top three, 'they'll fucking do it again'.
And I too hate the watchstone grind - to this day I haven't farmed all 32 in a league and I doubt this league will be different. But I love that they're putting the new watchstones in. Because they're not 'grind' only, I can buy them from other players. Which means doing content I enjoy for a reward I want instead of trash conquerors/sirus.

When 'input' is as far removed from reality as that was, you have to question the motivation and honesty behind it.
im excited just about new ho for 36 challanges. after league info i though about skip it, but hideout hold me.
some changes are bad imo, 40 buffes are in most cases kinda joke, they just kill hiero and totems
but:
-i like what they done with deadeye ascendancy. (i'll try it at league start)
-i like aurastacker nerf (still not enough and made alt quality useless for noaurabots/stacker), it become boring to seen 3 leagues in a row 80% players with aurastackers (now maybe it fall to 20-30)
-i like spectres nerf (people cry about it but trully ... it wont change too much in endgame dps - change from sick to rly good)
-curious about trinity support, it could be quite op for some builds, but i will w8 with judgement till some builds appear

Looking forward playing SSF Necro (no nerf can stop me ;) ) and the ritual content looks very promising. Also heist and harvest will be nice.

Yeah, i am hyped :)

Thank you, exile. there is still hope in this forum :D
No, not really excited. It's not that I think there's anything wrong with the new league, and the new end-game stuff seems cool. Even the balance changes seem... meh. Maybe they're reasonable, maybe they're heavy handed.

But I just spent the last couple months on heist because I wanted to try out a build that utilizes the aura cluster jewels. These were exorbitantly expensive on standard, where I typically play (yeah, I've never been particularly wealthy in PoE, and 4-6 exalts for a 6-passive jewel was unthinkable to me), so I rolled a new character on Heist, where they were cheaper, that I effectively played SSF, with the intention of spending every spare bit currency I made into buying those jewels (and a few extra, if possible) to bring them back to standard when the league ends. Without thousands of exalts to spend on all the other gear that I've heard really makes aura-stackers broken, I didn't expect a godly OP character, but I thought it would at least be pretty solid.

And now those items I invested in are all most likely going to be completely and utterly worthless, and I feel like I wasted all that time.

And worse, it's been a grim reminder that any piece of gear can be retroactively destroyed, even in standard, where it used to be that nerfed gear would typically become a legacy treasure, a lucky reward for remaining active when a powerful item was temporarily available. I still think PoE is a great game, and I love most of the stuff that's been added in recent years, and I'm sure this expansion will be no exception.

But being burned this badly by it really saps any enthusiasm to keep playing.

With these kinds of changes made with just about every major expansion it feels as if PoE was specifically developed to not only encourage, but force players into only playing the characters in the league they were created during. Saving them "for later" on standard league always seems to backfire with significant changes to ascendancy classes, gem stats or interactions with other items and gems and the skill tree. It is natural for changes such as these to happen over time, especially if a game is x-years old and keeps getting worked on, but still...

With my playstyle I have no problem with this kind of development as I usually delete my characters before the end of the league anyways, with very few exceptions. But I can see why people get upset or even furious about it. GGG keeps driving away their standard-mains more and more, probably unintentionally.
I understand that they put effort into their leagues and want people to give them a shot, even if they only really care about investing into their standard-league progress, but I feel like there should be other ways of getting people interested than, pretty much literally, forcing them into playing something they might not care about at all.
It should go without saying that lying and overhyping new league content is not one of them.
