PoE an mmo?
I recently found out about this game and it looks amazing. Howver, I keep reading that it's not an mmo but as the FAQ defines it a " competitive action rpg". Can anyone explain this to me a little more and why it isn't considered an mmo? Thanks for any help

This is NOT an MMO at all, only the Chat is MMO, the towns are MMO. Otherwise this will play no different than Diablo 2 in terms of mechanics and teamwork. -This is coming from someone who STILL plays Diablo 2 (and who has played EVERY Diablo clone, AND DIABLO 3) This is the best one and the only one to be BETTER than D2.
This game plays exactly like it would have played in 1997. Except you dont select a game to join, when you leave town you are alone, unless you party, or play in a game mode where other people automatically join in. This is the perfect solution to all of the problems Diablo 2 had in terms of trading and leaving the game to create a new instance to perform another "run" on a section. The devs wrote an article explaining this. Read about it here.

Diablo is a subgenre of the Action RPG (loot based, iso view, randomized dungeons, rare uniqe set items...)

This game is a RPG online
like Guild Wars is. By the way, Guild Wars 2 is going to be a true MMORPG, and imho the best one! |

The towns are massively multiplayer. All the other areas are instanced; every player/party gets their own private map. So functionally it's small-group coop, with towns which function as socializing/matchmaking/trading hubs.
Besides Guild Wars, Hellgate London was a good example of this style. |
