Why fireball is dead?
|
GGG has buff spell casting but a lot of player still play winter orb or strom brand. Does GGG hate fireball? ,or it's too OP in the past?

It's always going to be the case that some skills are mechanically superior to other skills. Winterorb auto-targets while running, and storm brand also auto targets and you can drag them around with you.
If damage of all skills is actually "balanced", then the skills that are mechanically superior are always going to rain supreme in popularity. In many cases, skills that are not higher dps wise still rain supreme because of mechanical differences. Fireball is a slow travelling projectile with no inherently interesting properties and is significantly more mechanically challenging to get the most out of than either skill you listed. As such, it would have to do wildly more damage or be wildly more mechanically strong than it is to compete. GGG is unlikely to do the first, and the second makes the skill something other than what it is now. |

GGG hates Fireball? Why would you even think it? Fireball is dead because no big streamer is playing it.
THATS ALL. |

"Wow, this is a very well made analysis. I agree with every word. I know all player come and say : "ahahah nice, u have try a bot u get ban, sooo nice" but i tell u its just for try, for see and for know. I have use this 10 minutes maximum and i have insta uninstall." - some not-too-bright dude, 2013; Joined 2012, † 2013.

Because people don't like to select a target. The first "meta" was spark totems. They auto target. Cast on crit was popular... it auto targets. Very few skills that require that you actually click on a monster are going to be popular so long as there are viable skills that don't. If they worked on targeting, rather than "balance" we might see some change.

Thanks you for all the answers. It makes me more clear. Fireball is not dead but many ppl choose easier skill to play.

"The path of least resistance is most often the most travelled path. |
|
" That's not it at all. The streamers typically have in-depth understanding of the skills available. It's as simple as why pick an inferior skill when you know something much better is available? The current attempt to buff self-cast doesn't seem to account for the mobility needs in the current dynamic, and the new support gems don't offer enough boost to take lackluster skills to the forefront, but they really don't bring enough to the table in general anyway. Yep, totally over league play.

" There will always be inferior and superior skills in this game. GGG will never make every skill in the game "equal". Half of spells in this game are just inferior version of new spell. |
