Pure Physical Damage
Let's add AoE to this discussion.
PoE is an AoE speed-clear game. Nothing more. I'd explain how much I miss my D2 zealot... but um... There's devils on each side of you with bottles in their hands.

How about chance to bleed on herald of purity and add brutality + bloodlust on your main skill?
I guess we need to check that first but it is probobly still weaker than x% physical added as elemental dmg. |

" Well, recently I reworked my heavy strike Starforge juggernaut to cleave dual wield pure physical build, and it works pretty nice. I can completely trivialize some of guardians, can facetank Minotaur and Chimera like yellow mobs, have no significant problems with Phoenix and Hydra, can beat Shaper (but I'm very experienced when it comes to Shaper fights, so I'm not sure, if "everybody" can do it either). No problems with Elder guardians too, excluding T16 erradicator, which is quite problematic due to bad design of this particular boss. To defeat him I have to use 2 or 3 life flasks (preferably Blood of Karui) instead of 1. I did not try to beat red Elder yet, however in my opinion he will not be a problem. Did not tried Uber Atziri too but… I don’t think so :) On other side, I’m sure this build can’t defeat Uber Elder, it is mission impossible. Also, I use some tricks which will be unavailable in Delve (goodbye Coward’s Legacy). Overall, really well designed pure physical build can do most of endgame (except Uber Atz and Uber Elder) but it is not comparable with elemental builds. |

Pure phys builds compete ok as long as Starforge is involved. If not, no chance.

The game really needs an armor penetration modifier similar to the "ignore x% of elemental resistance".

I dont think monsters really have any armour worth talking about tbh, player phys damage is essentially unmitigated by it.
" I dunno if Id go that far, you can obliterate red maps with pure phys and Ive seen people comfortably take down shaper deathless. they had to fight him tho, it wasnt instakill him in 2 seconds. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I've found the map mod for physical damage reduction to be pretty slowing for my physical characters, not even the pure phys ones. And unlike resistances there is no lower/penetrate/ignore for that mod. Whoops lol. But at least it's only a single map mod so if someone wants pure phys to have the benefit of dealing true damage he or she can hold chaos orbs at the ready to remove any PDR% or Endurance Charge mods

You can try to scale both physical and chaos/poison damage with new skills/heralds.

" The problem with that is, the support that is supposed to be the go to option for physical damage (brutality) disables chaos damage. Which is good in a way, otherwise it would just be a chaos support, but it removes that option. In general i would like some more options benefitting pure phys builds, but in the current state of the game elemental conversion and X% phys as extra elemental damage is just too strong. They would have to add a ridicolous modifier on brutality to compensate or add item mods that prevent elemental damage while boosting physical damage. Well or the other option, nerf conversion/extra elemental damage options. But the playerbase is always up in arms against any nerfs even if it would benefit the game in the long run. So i don't see that happening. The Bestiary league proved once and for all, that GGG only listens to crying instead of well thought out criticism.
