Pure Physical Damage

Are there any builds that can push end game content and that are truly pure physical damage that are comparable to it's elemental option. There's a pure Phys ST but compared to it's elemental damage ST it's so much weaker. Would really enjoy a build that can push end game content and even deep delve content just using physical damage even if there were certain drawback aka slower pushing less multi target/whatever. Feel like not a lot of balance as far as I can tell.

Even sunder required Herald's and Physical damage as elemental stat sticks to output damage

it's made me wonder if GGG has ever considered Pure Physical to be a viable build option, or if they've only ever considered it "naked" in the sense that "well yeah you could build a character with zero resistances but why would you" -> "well yeah you could build a character using only physical damage but why would you"

when Starforge and Brutality were released I was super hyped because it seemed like they were going to carve out a space for Pure Physical builds to actually play competitively with other options

then they released shaper stat sticks LOL

It's mostly just unfortunate that you can't go truly pure physical that has the viability that it's elemental counterpart would have even if there were some kind of drawback to help balance it out
Sadly no, GGG haven't really done anything for Pure Phy/Bleed builds. The handed a few supports awhile ago like Maim, Ruthless, Brutality, Chance to Bleed, and maybe some other one I'm not thinking of, added in Crimson Dance and called it a year. Despite all these more multipliers, it still doesn't compare.

Getting so much extra elemental damage scaling off phys has gotten insane.. and not even just from the stat stick off hands. Penetration and - resist can bring enemies below 0 making them take more damage. Crits actually meaning more then just raw damage, shock/freeze/ignite. There is next to no aura support for pure phys builds. Even then new one coming out with the minions is going to grant some low phys damage (most likely) and be more about the minions.

Bleed is the only thing that scales off pure phys and its pretty garbage atm. Crimson Dance wasn't the answer for this. There are barely any uniques that have any relation to bleed damage other then you being immune or having some effect while bleeding. I believe haemophilia gloves are the only bleed specific unique. Even the Gruthul Pelt or w/e seems awesome for phys but then you have no spells so no blood rage, curse, aura.. so geez can't even have a decent unique chest.

As far as pushing end game, I've done a bunch of crimson dance pure phys/bleed and I've been able to tackle high end maps and guardians but not where near the level of these other builds. But hey, they are working out poison atm so maybe phys/bleed is around the corner or... in a year or never.

Yeah I've definitely rocked some high end sunder builds that pushed red maps no issues base phys with no elemental was about 75k then I added elemental damage to the build and jumped to 245k

It's just frustrating that there is literally zero balance in this area of the game. You figure they would allow something.
I have a physical cyclone slayer with a disfavour, its about 550k dps I think. Is it comparable to the same thing with ele? I dont rly see how it could be. I dont use a lions roar, but I could and that would amp my phys even more (on paper, knockback = aids, I dont use it dont want it). Simply adding hatred, herald of ash, atziri flask, taste of hate, wise oak, surely im gonna come out doing significantly more damage tho right? There just isnt options to replace those things with a pure physical substitute.

That however would involve dropping defence flasks and not using bloodmagic keystone, which I use and get a fair bit of life from, so there is an upside of being a bit more tanky this way.

Yeah that cyclone build is an example but how much cooler would it be if you could use cyclone and keep up with the damage output of an elemental char without relying on actual elemental damage?

But there isn't any build diversity and I'm sure if you got end game gear for pure phys cyclone and elemental damage cyclone. Ele would just smash it

only "problem" is taking the same build and tacking on elemental would make it stronger and that is just amusing to think about.

Definitely solid until you start comparing it to some other builds that do 1.5x that effectively with elemental damage. Didn't bother me before since t16 maps could be cleared and uber elder is mechanical play but now that Delve keeps getting harder and harder and harder there will be a point to where phys damage builds are poop and there will be a bunch of elemental builds that are able to push and that doesn't seem balanced at all. I feel like we've been going far too long with no real pure phys damage builds. I'd just like that balance with pure phys. Love that old school barbarian feel where your dumb as a rock but are strong ^_^
Yeah, pure physical is in a sad state. When there is stuff like "you gain x% of your physical damage as [element] damage" there's really no reason to not add elemental damage.
I did a pure physical SST back in Bestiary with added bleeding and bleedsplosions. Worked OK up until late yellow maps, but I never got that much damage out of it and had to do some kiting (which worked nicely with bleeding enemies).
But it seems like elemental is the way to go. Especially since you have nice accompanying status ailments.
