Does this game run on Linux?
I've been playing it (on and off) for close to 3 years now, using Wine and PlayOnLinux wrapper. It's been bumpy at times, something subtly breaks almost every major patch. Right now, I can't play for more than 3-4 maps without restarting, otherwise the game client starts to get extremely choppy in large mob packs. Just last night I decided to stop playing because of that, and just give it a try few patches later.
Waiting impatiently for Wolcen and its planned Linux port. The more you depend on forces outside yourself, the more you are dominated by them.

" Been playing on Linux since 2013 and I can pretty much confirm this. It usually works - not perfectly performancewise, but that seems to be an issue for many players on Windows as well. And sometimes after patches something might not work right away, hasn't kept me from playing - although I'm pretty much not playing Incursion or Standard, but there are other reasons for that. I'm also waiting for Wolcen getting that Linux version out and then there's Last Epoch, who already got one, but they're in pre-alpha stage, alpha hitting around August with release planned for 2020. I have high hopes in that game. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" Just for the record, reverting Wine version to 2.21-staging helped with this gradual performance loss. I can now play longer without restarting POE. The more you depend on forces outside yourself, the more you are dominated by them.

It is actually now possible to run the game in DX11 mode on Linux by using DXVK. Just use Lutris to set the game up and you should be good.
Fullscreen still crashes for now in DX11 mode if you have Nvidia card but windowed mode works without any problems. I'm also running Path of Building and TradeMacro in the same wine prefix. Here is a video with more details in the description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WU8V_ogFItQ |
