Totem gameplay

Hey Guys

Im planing a totem build for my next char in 3.2. (When patchnotes are out).

But how is the totem gameplay om the xbox? Is the totem placement to random pr okayish?

Last, does anyone got any uploaded videofotage of high end mapping with totems?

Kind regards

Others may disagree, but I found LT aiming to be cumbersome and not ideal. I played a totem build through yellow maps and it worked fine, red maps and certain boss fights where totem positioning was required did not go as well.
Totem placing is a nightmare with the controller stick. Good luck trying.
In my experience Totems were only good for leveling. I would recommend a build that switches to self cast once you get into maps. Look into Bashtarts Spark Inquisitor. You'll do totems for a long time and then switch, which keeps the game interesting. The Build literally crushes all content and generates tons of currency. You can swap out 2-3 pieces of equipment for quantity gear and still run high red maps.
Don't bother, builds that utilize totems are almost entirely useless on the xbox. It will be an exercise in frustration rather than enjoyment.
Totem builds are definitely hard to do with the way it works on Xbox1 lol. It sucks too because Heirophant is looking SOLID for a totem build.
Ups made a double post, but ill reconsider.

Thx for input
I used a totem build in both leagues on Xbox, and had only minor issues (some of which where patched already). You no longer run at an enemy that is out of totem placement range, you just place it at max distance.

Exact placement is impossible, but once you get the hang of placement you are fine. I have never used LT to place a totem. If you need me to stream either of these builds so you can see them on console, just let me know.

I know it wasn't in response to me, but I'd be interested in seeing how these builds play on Xbox. But, I'd really be interested in your commentary on the technical details and things one really needs to know while playing. There are all kinds of vids and such for builds, but few of the creators talk about what they're doing and why when they're playing/recording. For me, a new player, it makes things a bit confusing. I'm not completely ignorant :), but since it would be a "new build" to me, I wouldn't be familiar with all its finer points.

I've been looking at builds for the upcoming league and some of the builds look interesting, especially some of Totem builds. (Looking at some minion builds, too.) But, I'm unsure how they'd play on Xbox, due to its different physical mechanics with the controller setup.

Note: I avoided certain D3 builds for the same reason, just like most long-term D3 players on console. I am just not sure what to avoid on PoE's console version. :(

Played D3 quite avidly also on console, I know what you mean about some builds just not working. I'm on most days in the evenings PST, and almost all day on the weekends. I can either stream some stuff on Mixer (xbox's streaming service) with voice chat on and it stays uploaded for 14 days, which you can view anytime. Stream with you in a party chat on console or via Xbox app on Android. Or we can just play.

Either way is fine / workable. Currently getting another buddy into RPG's in general, just started on PoE a couple days ago (already hooked him on Monster Hunter World).

I am by no means a pro, only played a bit on PC but I can't stand mouse and keyboard gaming. Still learning all the ins and outs of PoE, but keep getting better each league.
