So... WHY does Dynamic Resolution default to "on"?

Yeah I actually didn't notice it either. I actually feel it is good that it is one, because otherwise people wouldnt even know that this option exists, because not many games have such a tool.

It also basically means that if your resolution drops you have to choose between getting bad fps or getting a low resolution and I would prefer the lower resolution.

But then again I'm from a rather old generation (I'm not that old though, but I started playing games in the 90s on DOS, which makes you feel old sometimes). Back with Dos games we had to set sound channels and stuff with games for them to even work properly. So it is a natural thing to check the menu for a game when you first start it.

Powerful computers ARE frequently reverting to dynamic resolution.

isn't there a setting which defines the point at which dynRes kicks in?

when it comes to giving people options i always think on those gamers who got new graphics cards and bragged about them calculating 100+ frames per second while they knew that their monitors had a fixed display rate of 60 fps and dropped additional frames (in the best case).

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
Yeah you can define the FPS at which dyn Res kicks in. I keep it at 60 and never had it happen it doesn't immidiatly lower your res once you go to 58 or so at least not for me and I never had lower fps thus far.

Do we just have here a fucking thread of 13 lines about the fact that you need to tick a fucking box in the fucking menu?

**mind blown**

That's so fucking retarded :s

Fun fact, my menu does not even have that check box!
You're probably not using DirectX 11 then, or you're playing on Windows XP.
