Why are cosmetics SO expensive?
I think at this point I've spent.....about $80 on PoE since Open Beta.
I've spent probably a little more than that in Warframe, which is a couple years younger than PoE. I use the same logic for both games: only generally pay for cosmetics and account features like storage space. Don't pay for "shortcuts and pain removal." PoE doesn't really have any of that. Overall PoE's MTX philosophy fits mine nicely. The major difference in spending between the two though is that Warframe's currency just lasts. There's small .50 things I can buy now and then, so I'm comfortable throwing down $20 or $30 at a time every few months because I can sit on it. Waframe probably has 10x the # of purchasable cosmetics than PoE (many locked to character class essentially) and yet I don't run out and buy them all with my available cash. PoE on the other hand...my premium currency is bought and spent in the same minute. I don't just buy up 500 GGG coins and sit on them for a while; everything is just too expensive. So I only spend on what I want/need to buy right now. I like the flexibility the MTX offers with skin transfers and reclaiming effects, but usually can't stomach the price of anything above 50 points. The only reason I bought a Legacy pack was because I needed tabs AND the credits were just enough to squeeze in an armor MTX I'd been looking at. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it. Legacy supporter pack is the single largest purchase I've made in PoE since I started playing it. I get GGG's financial rationale but honestly, I think they could do so many more transactions on lower priced offerings. And I don't mean the Mystery Boxes. That's straight gambling and not worth the price when you carefully make MTX decisions in F2P games. "We're pilgrims in an unholy land." Dernière édition par Nenjin#4415, le 16 mars 2017 à 19:31:08

I think the sticker shock of MTX will keep casuals away. League of legends had an effective pricing tier, with only super elite skins at the $40 level and far more balanced in terms of mystery boxes. I understand the argument has been made that they have Esports to fall back on, but offering a wider selection of "decent" MTX choices across a wider spectrum of prices is likely to yield greater purchases and an opportunity to lure in casuals to spending money on the game.

for a game which you support so developers are being able to keep up the servers, expansions and bugfixes and then look what stuff you can buy with these points to show your support, mtx prices are ok. for a game where you buy shop points to buy stuff to look good, mtx prices are too high. the game started with the former and sales + mtx race/char rewards turned it into the latter. since quite some time, mtx don't represent your amount of support anymore. offline

" And I don't see much progress with state of the game. There's no rota without a crash or dc. DX11 is still not fixed (launch as windowed-mode). Burning ground=low fps even on good PC. The engine is barely breathing. The game is hardly playable with party. |

The super expensive prices is the only thing that actually stops me from providing GGG with more money.
I want a full cosmetic set with wings but it costs as much as a new Triple A Title. Which means GGG gets no money from me. If the prices where halved then they would receive the money. |

" Because getting PoE for free in not enought, and PoE is not tripeA title? Yeah... I love this kind of "logic". |

" " That doesn't sound like PoE, does it? „I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“ No mod action. Business as usual. |

" it's not even logical, he plays poe for 3 years now. world of warcraft charges you $15 per month for a subscription which, in 3 years, would sum up to $540 in his case. add the base game ($20) and the legion expansion ($50) we're looking at $610. that's how many complete armor sets in poe? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" So You prefer shitty game that was/is supported by tons of marketing (pointless burn of money in many cases since markeing is very often much more expencive than actuall game making funds - only idiot spend this amount of money on markeing instead on making the product, and those who buys them are....) than reliable product that gives You experience You want to have for free? And You want to tell me that GGG havent took risk when they started PoE? Nice... It is informal classification, so how exackly You want to veryfie it? " Exackly my point. My myself i bought supporter pack because i play PoE for long time (since Act 3 was not finished and was ending on doors to Solaris). And this is my way of "thank You GGG for great game" - any other game i would buy in store for the similar amount of money. So to me ist like buying box version of PoE. I dont care about all the flashy stuff but i used my points on stash tabs (mostly) - currency, essence, cards. Bt all this thread, all those complains? Thats just retarded. remember there is steam now ^^
if you really want to buy something buy your points through steam, pretty sure they take a good chunk out of what GGG gets from it 3:) IGN: Bluntexile
