Why does HC/SSF seem so alluring?
Been playing a few leagues, and I had my mind made up I was going to play a meta build so I could finally play and complete all content before 3.0...but...
For some reason, I am just really super attracted to playing HC/SSF. Now I suck, and would probably never make it to maps, but it just seems like it would be a lot of fun to me. Why? Here's why for me : 1. Being all by your self makes every drop valuable. 2. It puts an emphasis on crafting. 3. Builds can't be fully planned. They would constantly evolve and change around the drops you get. 4. I like collecting stuff, and even terrible unique drop would provide more satisfaction than running a mindless shaped strand map. Does anyone else find HC/SSF alluring? I'd love to hear your reasons why. Dernier bump le 28 févr. 2017 à 23:12:08

#1 Maybe, not sure.
#2 Probably not. #3 Yes. #4 No. " Dont find it "alluring". Its more that I dislike softcore and trading. There are 2 things about trading which I dont like: 1. No auction house. 2. The game is more "buy a planned build" instead of "play an RPG". No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

I used to only play HC SSF years ago, but trading eventually got so easy and took no time at all so I gradually traded more and more for every league that came around. But at the same time, with all the trading and power creep, the game has gotten really easy as well, and gets quickly boring. So I will try out HC SSF this league and see how I like it, if I dont like it I can just transfer everything out of SSF anyway.

It's not to me. 9/10 deaths are network issues. Whether frames start laggin in higher maps as they always do, to freezes and then game fast forwards really fast uncontrollably, or lag spikes thats what kill me usually. Way to risky to play HC at all let alone SSF HC. Been there done it. NTY. I
ll be happy to kill a single guardian in SSF SC. I'll consider that "winning" But good luck. Git R Dun! Dernière édition par Aim_Deep#3474, le 28 févr. 2017 à 13:23:31

SSF: yes, every item matters and no trading
HC: no, deaths due to lag spikes or stutter |

If you've been playing for a while but have never tried SSF HC (or really any of the old races that lasted > 3 days) you can make it to maps on your first or second character if you play totems np. It calls to us because it's real progression - unencumbered by all the other things that get endless posts made about them in these here forums.

For me it's about maintaining fun. I found that I lost interest in games of yore when ever I relied on other players for anything. If someone gave me a nifty item, or traded me for it, I pretty much lost interest in the game shortly there after. I felt like I cheated. I discovered a personal ruleset that fit my personal rules and that ruleset is closest to the rules of HC/SSF.
It's not a perfect fit, but it's the best fit I've found. When the lab came out, I switched to SC. It's ok. But I've lost interest since Xmas. Two months off has done me good. I'm back, hyped, and ready to play the new league. HC. SSF. Back to my usual rules. I hope the game suits it. Probably not. I'm definitely going HC/SSF through 3.0. I might even clear my stashes and start totally fresh. Dunno. Some of the stuff I have would be really hard to delete. |

I like to trade yet still going to play hc ssf just for that extra challenge. I want the game extra difficult, like actually struggling thru content. If I like it I might actually never come back to regular hc leagues

I thought about it.
For me, It quickly approaches the point where the satisfaction is not worth the effort/time. Though with the league stones, I could see myself going for a normal playthrough. A kid with a magnifying glass. . . looming down on the anthill. Eventually one is going to get you.
