How are resistance penalties going to work with 10 acts?

I think the resistance penalty is going to get a buff. GGG is fucked up like that, buff what isn't needed and nerf what doesn't need nerfing. Resistance penalty will now be -200%
I heard they were planning on reducing your resistance by 10 points for every melee node you pick up the tree

What is the point in having -res anyway? Couldn't they just lower res on items and the tree and you wouldn't have the need for this artificial difficulty penalty. The resistance penalty, like the Cruel/Merciless difficulty modes is a short cut to make it easier to balance the game over a wider range of character levels. It would be nice to see GGG "solve" this when they "solve" the difficulty level issue.
