How does Slayer's Endless Hunger work exactly?

The timers on Leech effects still expire, even if they are inactive.
Aye, my previous example was perhaps a bit oversimplified. Even if a Leech effect is not removed, it is still there, and still occurring, and while it is occurring, the amount ticks down.

More realistic example:

2,000 max Life
2% of Damage Leeched as Life

You Deal 10,000 Damage
Amt. Leeched: 200
Rate of leech: 2% of your Maximum Life, or 40, per second

With Endless Hunger:
For 5 seconds, you Recover 40 Life per Second as a Leech Effect

Without Endless Hunger:
For up to 5 seconds, you Recover 40 Life per Second as a Leech Effect

So without Endless Hunger, if you were at 1960 Life before Hitting the enemy, you heal for 1 second. If you're Hit again in the next 4 seconds, no heal for you.

With Endless Hunger, 1960 Life at time of Hit, you heal for 5 seconds. If you're Hit again in the next 4 seconds, you still heal. 5 seconds after the Hit, you don't get any healing regardless of how long you spent at Full Life.

Taking into account with Brutal Fervour, Hematophagy (my indicator for the rough estimate), Vitality Void, Blade of Cunning, about 5.4k life, and about 17k DPS tooltip with Lacerate (I actually deal a lot more damage than that, probably x2 or x3 the amount of I have from tooltip), I get roughly at least about the same time as I get with fortify support (which is 5 seconds). With Ancestral Warchief up and Onslaught (got around 23k DPS tooltip), I get roughly 6 seconds.

I cannot get give you a definite answer, but this is my rough estimation.

Edit: Hope this somewhat answer your how long question, as for how much it can store, it depends on the maximum life leech rate, increased life leech per second, % of attack/physical leeched as life, life pool, and damage dealt to x.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Yes, it tends to create a really nice buffer if you use a heavy hitter. That's the point of the node.
At the same time, if the leech stack expires, a slow heavy hitter will have a hard time rebuilding leech versus a single target boss for example. It's a bit of a trade-off.

This is how i like to think of it.

Basically its a leech pool that pools into your health pool but depletes at the normal rate otherwise even when you dont take damage.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!
