Latency display = pure fake ?
UPS lost my packet once. It made for a sad Christmas.

don't act as if this game had a completely new concept of networking lol...
it's the same in ALL games out there. call it lag, call it latency, call it ping, call it what you want, the concept of "delay" isn't really hard to understand. my point is, this "latency meter" never shows anything above 30-40ms for me, although the "real latency" is often above half a second (500ms and more). this can be best seen with effects that can't be subject to client-side-prediction, e.g. opening chests, where the data *must* come from the server first before the client can show anything. |

" And you measured the "real latency" how exactly? |

Latency meter seems to work just fine, it comes down to people not understanding how it works. I have experieced 'latency like affects' but that comes from other things, not the time it takes for a packet beeing sent and recieved.

" Before consdering that there is a network issue at all, I would want to establish that OP knows the difference between network latency and frame rate drop. It is overwhelmingly common (especially among younger players) for a low frame rate per second issue to be confused with the issues caused by network latency. If you are getting really "choppy" graphics or if your game play looks like "snapshots", you don't have "lag", you have an under-powered computer. A more powerful graphics card and/or additional RAM will solve this issue. If your graphics are smooth but you have issues with your character suddenly changing positions in the game, nearby monsters not attacking/advancing or taking damage when nothing is on the screen, you might have an issue with network latency. This comes to mind because OP provides a static value for when it is bad: (like at the moment, almost one second). It is far more common for display issues to remain consistent long enough to determine an average duration whereas network latency tends to be much more sporadic and difficult to pin a number on. |

Latency < Desynch > Lag
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Latency != Lag
That is like saying feet = tall person.... Ok, how many feet determines a tall person? Latency is a measurement. Low latency = Less Lag Higher latency = More lag FAQ: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/36608 GGG Posttracker: http://www.gggtracker.com/ Dernière édition par FSM#0485, le 20 févr. 2013 à 08:59:37
