Caster defenses still terrible

If it makes you feel better, I have died more than once to cannibals. They do deal insane amounts of damage. I have also died a lot of times to the after-death elemental explosions from the bloodline mods. They oneshot me.

Remember that, while I spent a lot of points into defenses, and also geared up towards defenses (800+ armour helmet, 500+ armour boots - you have to sacrifice other stats if you want such armour on these items and don't want to spend 5+ exalt per item), I still have only 5.6k life, and all my defenses except for arctic armour and fortify (armour, endurance charges, determination if I run it, physical reduction from tree) only reduce physical damage. Heavy elemental damage - ouch. I have less defense against that than you have. Magnus Stonethorn in a lvl 77 map? Almost insta-rips me with his flameblast. And when kiting him, no chance to get fortify running.

At the same time, I very likely have a lot less DPS than you do. And linking fortify to my attack eats a gem slot. Or I have to proc it with another skill (like leap slam).

Just some friendly advice here. Your gear is definitely subpar, especially for a level 90 character. You have a ton of average life rolls. I have no idea what the standard economy is like, but I'm always rolling in exalts and chaos just from selling any decent gear I find or alch by the time I hit 90 in temp leagues. I played self found almost exclusively before so I never used them, but it was still easy to pick them up. If you're not selling decent gear you find, you'll definitely have a hard time buying upgrades.

Also, your flasks are really, really bad. The most important thing for survivability is having good flasks. Seething Divine Life Flasks of Staunching are pretty awesome, and it's well worth the investment in rolling one. Also, try to get a good suffix on the other life flask, which I'd also recommend making Seething. Burst damage is what tends to kill you in POE, so flasks that give you a ton of life eventually end up being worthless in situations where you actually need life to survive.

Your Granite flask also doesn't give you more armour. That needs to be fixed. I spend a ton of alts each character I play rolling flasks. It's totally worth it. I don't think I'd be 85 in Tempest with my Flameblaster if I hadn't rolled good flasks.

Edit: Le Heup of All is a solid leveling ring. It is absolutely terrible at 90. Please, please find yourself a ring with a good life roll on it.

I will, eventually. Right now, I am doing fine for most of the time, when I die I die to lags mostly, and the fact that my flasks react with a delay (playing with 150ms latency on a good day, often 200-500ms).

My flasks are in this setup for a reason. I also tried having %armour on the flask, but it doesn't help much, because it is additive to the armour bonuses from tree, not multiplicative. Especially when running determination, it completely sucks.

Selling gear is pretty hard if you are not online most of the time.

Anyways, not the topic here (and better flasks dont help me against getting oneshot by elemental damage - admittedly, better life rolls would). Not investing much currency into this character for the moment until I know that I can get the maps that I would need to have fun playing this character.

It is honestly a lot cheaper to just buy the flasks you need.

And I am not good at pricing or trading things, I just don't like it very much.

My argument is : I'm playing a 88 caster in endgame maps on tempest. I played casters in all hardcore temp leagues since closed beta. It's ok, really. Yeah, some things aren't great, act 4 mobs are a bit overtuned, but really you can play a caster and have fun. It's just a bit harder than pre 2.0 when you had the insanely op combo cwdt/ec/ic+cod+eb. I explained everything about my char in the first page, what I'm using for defenses, what are my weaknessess... I don't know what more can I tell you ?
And my build is nothing special, it's not even something I really planned or whatever. I played something similar during the closed beta and I re-did it. I even played with acrobatics for the first time ever.

And whats the problem with the fact that i really dislike playing new leagues ? Have you considered that those leagues are pretty shitty right now ? Tempest, Warbands, seriously ? My whole guild got bored in 1 week playing on it.
This means that I can't have a point here ? Can't express my opinion ? you're just proving that you're an elitist as the others as i stated before.

BTW, i just want to inform you guys, that i DO agree that casters have MORE options of defenses now. BUT until then, every other class had the same proportion of choices as casters have now. How is mom different than before except a hell of a lot easier to get and you can wear a real chest with life and resits? Mom is better than before.

AA is better too.

Before I ran 26 AA on every wiz and still didnt mitigate close to what new 14% does. More like 5%.
Old AA was a gimmick. Blocked little hits that didnt matter to your well being. Not so much againt anything that mattered. That prolly why it was free to run for most part.

You dont like hearing mom is better than ever due to location. AA is better than ever due mitigation waty more. Some think EB is better than ever (i disagree with this one) because you can reserve 100% mana.

Has it occured to you mobs just hit harder and everyone is having problems? Not just caster? doh?
