Am I calculating my lifeleech correctly?
Hi guys,
http://imgur.com/fgYmJfU 2% Base leech from max life + the 8% I get from the passive tree would make it 10% leech from max life. If I have 10000 hp I could leech 1k life/sec. Now what happens with the "leech rate"? 1000 * (1+leechrate%/100)? thx Crazy Miners Fire Nova Mines: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1595627 The Savage, Endgame cleaner: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1613272 Dernière édition par GGprime#5060, le 9 juil. 2015 à 14:51:52

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Your base life leech rate is 2% of your maximum life per second. With 10000 life you will leech 200 life per second. Now, if you hit two target at once you will regenerate 400 life per second. If you hit 10 targets at once you will leech 2000 life per second. Since you cannot regenerate more then 20% of your maximum life per second (by default) hitting 11 targets at once wouldn't increase your life regeneration any further. If you increase your life leech rate (8% in your example) you can leech 2% * 1.08 = 2,16% of your maximum life per second. Now you only need to hit 9 targets at once to regenerate (nearly) 20% of your maximum life per second. If you however increase your maximum life leech rate (let's say by 10%) you could regenerate 30% of your maximum life per second. Now you would need to hit 15 targets at once (with 2% life leech rate) to cap your regenerated life. Note #1: By life regeneration I mean the life that is regenerated due to life leech. Note #2: You obviously don't need to hit all targets at once to profit. You could aswell hit one target, and another one 0.2 seconds later, so you would have 0.8 seconds of the stacked life leech. |

Hematophagy for example gives 2 bonuses:
1. "maximum life per second to maximum lifeleech rate" - this is where I got 8% combined. 2. "increased life leech per second" - I got 38% of these. Are you sure that the 8% are not additive with the 2%? If not this would be a complete worthless node to pick?! My whole calculation is for singletarget though, multiple targets will not be a problem. " I am pretty sure that 'x% Increased Life Leeched per seocnd' applies to your base Life Leech rate, which is 2% while 'x% of maximum Life per second to maximum Life Leech rate' applies to your 20% Life Leech cap. In your example: Your maximum Life Leech cap would be 20% + 8% so your leech cannot exceed 28% of your maximum Life. Your Life Leech per second is 2% * 1.38 = 2.76% so a single hit will leech 2.76% of your maximum life over one second. " The way I see it is that you want to get as much 'x% increased Life Leeched per second' as possible. Cherrubim's Maleficence for example will net you 100% increased Life Leeched per second so you can Leech 4% of your maximum Life per second. Edit: You would need 500% increased Life Leeched per second to experience the Life Leech vs. a single target that we still have on the Live servers. Well that's abit disappointing, I guess it's just better for me to go for life regeneration then.
Thx for your help. Crazy Miners Fire Nova Mines:

You can still cap your life leech vs single target by attacking repeatedly. The 2% small cap is per leech instance, that is per target per hit.
You just need to satisfy: DPS * total life leech% * total increased life leeched per second >= Total life * (20% + maximum life per second to maximum life leech rate) In your case, you will leech 28% life per second, after a short buildup time (depending on your attack speed). I don't think that it's possible to hit one's leech cap versus a single target. In GGPrime's setup:
28% Leech cap 2.76% Life Leeched per second 28 / 2.76 ~ 10.15 So he need 11 leech instances at once to hit the leech cap and therefore he would have to hit a single mob 11 times within one second. |

Depends on how much he leeches per hit, he will need 10 attacks per second if those leeches last 1s, and if they last two seconds he will need only five.

" Leech effects can last longer than one second, depending on the amount leeched. | |
" AND each individual hit would need to leech enough that the time to leech is higher than 1 second. I'm going to give a full life-leech build a try with my first character of the new league, but I have this creeping suspicion that I'll be spending a lot of regrets dropping leech nodes in favor of regeneration.
