Its survivability is more important than its quality. I'd maybe start levelling a spare in your 2nd weapon slots, then once it's ~lvl 18, 20% recipe and swap to relevel again.

In an optimal STD build, squeezing as much MF out of gear as possible - do you think it'd be better to take item quantity on the 6l instead of rarity?

Depends on the rest of your gearing progression, but generally, yes. You would need to be roughly at around 230-250 IIR to make it worthwhile though, in my experience.

It's been pretty strange for me with maps. I hit a brick wall about a week ago getting stuck in like Tier 5 for quite awhile. Just crazy.

i got two.

but forgot to corrupt

you cant go past 8 without chiseling and rolling, i hardly ever got to 10, but had bad luck and now im at 7 again :(
and alch everything to minimum of70-80 that you dont chisel. overall prob are 100+ orchards etc with unlucky bossmods that i actually dont even try.

I haven't really tried to progress yet map wise so I can speak to this supposed "nerf" to maps that's happened.
