The Awakening Supporter Packs
" Thanks. I like to call it "constructive feedback". Note the lack of "TL;DR". ;) |

" The way I see it it's that maybe the people that gets angry about some other people that buys the supporter packs, specially the more expensive ones, is that they know people (or maybe even are themselves?) that need money for more important things than entertainment, for example food or school payments for their children, monthly rent, etc. because, as you probably know, in real life there are many unjust life situations, and when these people see these different realities they feel the injustice of our society that we live in. But, if I would have to guess, these kind of people that I was describing, usually works very hard from very early to very late and can't even afford time to spend in game forums, playing games, or even in some cases, to spend time with their children every day ... From my point of view, every hard work should be rewarded and GGG is doing an excellent job so far, so they deserve a lot of our support. They have created one of the best quality forms of entertainment in years making this game. I wish I could support them more, but I think also, and this is just my personal opinion, that there is a line. What do you do if you have $1000 to give as support to others and see around you many people that need economic help? I'd try first to see if with that money I can help other people who need it more than GGG for example. But, in any case, being angry with others doesn't solve anything I think, and instead you could try to learn by understanding all kinds of situations and people perspectives. Sorry, I know my English is far from good. |

" I can definitely see where you're coming from, at the same time the rather small cost of one of the packs compared to the amount of entertainment PoE has given me over the years is far more than worth the cost (heck, certainly a lot less than what the same number of movie tickets for this many hours of entertainment would cost). |

Why is everyone seeming to forget, or maybe they were not around for it...
GGG sold beta keys with "early access packs" before, and this is no different... So "losing integrity" as one poster said? I think not. This is the same business model they have had for a long time. The more people that get in the beta by any means, even if they don't manually report a single thing, the better. Tax the servers and see what they are made of... GGG will be collecting stats. That way you same ppl flying off your diaper seats about everything now can be happy with a smoother launch compared to if only a few ppl got in. Now on to some feedback for the MTX: I feel that the Shades would have been better suited as pets, or skins for the Golems etc. instead of just random pop ups now and again. Kind of loses the impact and could get tiring seeing tons of these in town areas pop up randomly all the time. Wep fx are decent. I was expecting this to go a bit differently. Thx for all the hard work! |

" This is why I tried to make it very clear where I'm coming from personally from the start. I by no means mean to suggest that others don't or shouldn't buy even the highest pack. Please, if you can, do so. GGG continues to deserve that level of support. Many of my reasons for supporting as I did in the past are still present (those that aren't have nothing to do with GGG) and I hope that those coming to PoE now (or who are wealthy enough that they don't have to decide between supporting awesome, buying an occasional toy, or paying rent) choose to support GGG for much the same reasons. But having passed some personal threshold, be it financial or psychological, I've begun focusing more on "the stuff" gained from supporting further weighed against where I can put my money elsewhere. From a cost/hour of entertainment perspective.. I think I'm good for a while. Others, not so much perhaps - you know who you are.. your turn. I do still hold GGG at the pinnacle of awesome in terms of community involvement and keeping their word on contentious matters despite the hardships of doing so. Their ethical microtransaction model is second to none and years later still seems to command the highest of praise - at least from most people. It's a real shame most companies still try to make a quick buck with the CoC (or similar) model despite the gameplay-crippling decisions that accompany it but I do see some companies coming around slowly. I just happen to disagree with or scratch my head with confusion at the odd thing from time to time. I can only hope that conveying how and why helps reduce the frequency of my raising an eyebrow going forward. And if not, PoE will still nevertheless likely continue to be awesome and generally well received - even by this nitpicky grumpypants (me, in case of confusion). As a small aside, I learned something interesting several years ago (though I can't attest to it's global application). Overall income from lesser tiers far exceeds that from the highest. Though the top supporters are still very important and appreciated. In that sense, Axiom being so awesome at a generally accepted price point for a game is genious. But that's still not a good reason for those tiers above it to not be at least equally awesome - their lack of awesomeness being just my opinion - unless one would suggest that envy of their awesomeness would prevent a significant number of people from otherwise purchasing Axiom. |
