Item Level and Number of Sockets

I searched for this info but I could only encounter outdated/unconfirmed answers.

I want to know what's the maximum amount of sockets that an item of certain level can have. For example, I'm using a iLvL 39 two-handed mace and I want to know how many sockets it can have, otherwise I'll just burn all my Jeweller's Orbs trying to get an impossible amount of sockets.

I believe it was 30 for 4 sockets, 40 for 5, and 50 for 6.

I found an /itemlevel 36 bow today (on Hardcore >> Normal >> Lunaris Temple >> level 3) with 5 sockets. Yes, it surprised me, too.

It's 28 for 4 and 35 for 5, 50 was right for 6.

Would any of you happen to know that the minimum level for connected sockets is? That is, if I roll a 6 socketed item, does it always have a change to roll 6L or is there a separate item level requirement for that?

If it can roll the sockets, it has a chance (small one as always for full links) to roll linked together and is possible to link with fusings, after much hair pulling that is.

He meant the ilvl... Not the level required to wear it.

Pick up and item, type /itemlevel...
