For trading purposes you can individually link item in the forums from the stash/inventory though.

Good point, peachii. People can always post their inventory item by item to the forum. Although I prefer they use spoiler tags if so, at least outside of a trade post.

It just seems silly that I can access my inventory from the site, but can't use the same thing to show my friends my character. :/

Some people are quite secretive with their gear and specs. With the races, they like to keep them to themselves and only share if they want to. So far GGG has left that up to the players to share and aren't forcing. Which i love.
