Frenzy vs Double strike ?

In general Can frenzy put out more damage then double strike (both gems being same lvl)?
How many frenzy charges would be needed to do so?

In general, it can; however, this comes with a much higher mana cost. Or you could use both.

Good point, i had not thought about that. I'm using a BM support and its 125 to run vs 81 for double strike. I was considering the switch because i use ST and the attack speed increase would work well.

The comparison between Frenzy and Double Strike depends on how much increased attack speed you have (not counting local mods on your weapon). If you have a lot of IAS, Double Strike is better: the bonus on Frenzy, while substantial, is still only 'increased' attack speed, so it stacks additively. If you don't have much IAS, Frenzy may be better by itself, and the IAS bonus applied to other skills from Frenzy charges will be more noticeable.

I used both with a 2H-Sword-Warrior. Stack up frenzy then double strike (and mix in a frenzy every now and then to keep the charges).
