Wanting a magey male char, shadow the way to go?

Wondering if this or templar would be better to make a mage without making a witch. Does anyone have example builds of either one?

I don't have any big build examples, but both of them are so close to the Witch it's pretty trivial(then again, if you wanted to make a Caster Marauder-my friend has, and it's not hard to do). IMHO-the Templar has more of a 'magey' feel, where the Shadow has more of a 'rogue' feel. Of course others mileage may vary, but for some reason when I play my Shadow I feel much more aggressive and punchy, and my Templar seems to have more of that 'Mage' vibe.

both templar and shadow have quite a few mage type builds you can find easily, with templar probably being the more popular to build as a mage
