Account hacked

When I logged on today I was notified that my account had been logged into from a location that was abnormal and my account was locked. I unlocked it by email and when I logged in I found that all of my valuable currency items were stolen from my stash. Could you please see what was taken and give it back to me. That was hard earned and I don't feel it was right I should lose that stuff since your system obviously detected the hack and locked my account. Please let me know how you can resolve this theft.

I'd say: contact support.
But you're not going to like what they tell you. your items will not be restored. They detected the possible hack, but the problem is on your end, not GGG's (hack/phish etc). scan for viruses and malware. change the e-mail you use for this game (unique), change the password you use (unique). And start over again. DO NOT use 3rd party sites/cheats,. DO NOT use your e-mail for something other than PoE. DO NOT use your PoE password for ANYTHING ELSE... EVER! |

Might I also add...
If you want to make sure you're REALLY secure, get a new gmail address for PoE and attach a 2-factor authentication system to it. Google provides one on their accounts for free if you've activated. All you have to do is set up the app and configure the settings. I've done this for all my gmail addresses and never had an issue with getting my email accessed/hacked... Also, I like how Google has provided "Application Passwords" so you can still configure stuff using a saved password for applications which can be deactivated and re-created if needed. Google has gone above and beyond when it comes to email security (as long as you enable it) and I wish more webmail providers did. If you have other email providers, I'd dump them for gmail, and if you already have gmail but have not activated the extra security features, I'd highly recommend you do so. |
