Please fix performance and optimization problems
So many instances are so laggy and crappy that they are unplayable. I can't do uber elder because the lag is unbearable. Just had atziri in a T15 temple -- should have been easy but I died 6 times because her flame blasts exploded before she started casting them (literally -- I died, and then it showed her start casting, and then finish casting). Content updates are meaningless when the game is unplayable. None of these things should/need to be an issue. I can play online games that are much more demanding and yet POE is the only one that gives me any problems at all -- and this has been a problem with every single update.

" and I can play PoE without these problems. your point? |

" The point is that this game's optimization is terrible and even though the developers seem to be listening to their players, they still somehow manage to just ignore all the important problems with the game. This game has literally no need to be so laggy and crashable, it finds a new way to crash every day. If your computer is amazing, good for you, there are many people, probably the vast majority of the community, that don't have amazing computers and they like the game, but can't play it seriously 'cause it crashes like crazy. This game would be 10x more popular after optimization and implementing simple things to make it more beginner friendly, like, for example, auction houses, developers need to sit back and stop with the unstoppable expansions flow and fix the game first. That was the point I think. |

" GGG constantly improves the performance. Even todays patch included performance improvements " GGG constantly fixes the crashes. Even todays patch included fixes to crashes. " theres a dev manifesto written about the state of trading and why they will not implement an auction house. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870 |

Game optimization is shitty. Game is unplayable without ssd hdd. No one from GGG mentioned this in system requirements.
retired from forum because of censorship and discrimination
(also poe2 bad) |

There is optimization and then there are expectations, DO NOT confuse the two.
1. Game performance is pretty damn good all things considered, not like anything else can really handle 100+ monsters attacking/getting killed/exploding/every other effect on the screen at the same time...and here you have a hand made engine doing it all. (where as other games and their engines don't even go there) 2. Poor configurations on the players end, causes a shit ton of problems be it hardware or software or drivers or how stuff is used. You have people whining about performance that use 5600rpm hard drives, windows xp x32, 9500gt's or lower, 2 gigs of ram. Or they are over clocking and doing a poor job of it. Or not updating anything Or using a hard driver that is 95% full. The list goes on It's all well and good just shouting "the game is poorly optimized" just the same as "fix the servers" or reddits (RIP!) BUT that is the lazy way to avoid doing things to fix problems yourself. " Wrong, 1tb mechanical drive here, no problems, previous HDD was an at the time 10 year old multi platter 350gig (7 years up time on it as well) also no problem...in fact i remember at the time people moaning about load times taking 5 minutes or more, where as i was 2 minutes.....(and it's even less now) Ancestral Bond. " 1. Wrong. There are plenty of other games that can handle as many models/events. My point is their hand made engine and game are not optimized. 2. Also wrong. I have manually adjusted every setting, including manually lowering graphics below what you can set in the UI to see if it can help, and nothing does. I have an SSD, 8 gigs of ram, windows 7 x64. The game is updated, I shouldn't even need to overclock but it doesn't help (tried it). My hard drive is about half full. Streamers with top-end gaming PCs still have crashes, lag, desync, etc. You are more unreasonable than the people you claim are whining with no reason. Completely baseless and unproductive response. |

" I have looked at the post history of this guy, lagwin1980, and he just hangs around the tech support forum and defends GGG every chance he gets. Not sure if he's just trolling or he is genuinely a GGG fanboy. |

I would say this game's optimisation is adequate to the size of the team involved, home grown engine used and layered nature of things involved.
I say that with grinding teeth, because there is definitely room for improvement (maybe more like a whole Axoatl Temple for improvement), but given the eventualities, it holds together in the tides of time. I mean - you must forget about "Minimal requirements". Pretend that document does not exist. It might not sound like an answer, but you need to change your expectations maybe along trying to squeeze maximum juice out of your hardware at the same time. I am not saying you have no idea about how to set your gear. I am saying that you maybe expect too much out of GGG's engine. I hope that does not qualify as white-knighting, because I would not survive that :) |
