1h shield pointless for melee?

Hi all,

I keep trying to make 1h shield melee builds (cause I love them) but it seems their DPS is soooooooo terrible compared to dual wielding that it's pointless?

I have given up a maurader one and a gladiator one because by about lvl 45 I can't even dent a boss in incursion before I run out of time, and the survivability trade off isn't that great?

My dual weild champ just does soooo much more damage without that much of a drop in survivability.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong here?

My builds are pretty standard stuff, Here is an example of a gladiator one I tried and gave up on because it was so slow
