Is Blade Vortex Bugged?

Im playing a blade vortex build this season and I am still leveling but I have noticed that when im at 10 stacks and my stacks start dropping, it has a hard time going back up to 10 stacks. Lets say it drops to 7 stacks and i press and hold my button, it will do this for a second or two:
7878787878788888898989898989 10 9 10 9 10 10 10. Its like its trying to ramp the stacks back up from 0 or something.

And then I have noticed that lets say im running around and it drops to say 6 stacks. Ill hit my key to cast blade vortex again and it will stay at 6 stacks for a fraction of a second and then my stacks will just drop off as if I never cast the skill again. Now with my duration passives I have right now, I would say when I cast the skill with no stacks, it will stay at 10 stacks for 4-5 seconds im guessing.

Is this normal for this skill?

Also this is just a suggestion but I think the skill would feel alot better if you are damaging enemies, the skill doesn't lose stacks.

With both scion duration clusters, and default cast speed, this is about right. At 0.5 cast time, it will take 5 seconds to get to 10 blades. With 9.5 second duration, you'll have just under 5 seconds left on your first blade by the time you cast your 10th blade.

Ok but why am I losing stacks after I cast the skill. And lets say im at 7 stacks and cast the skill, It should refresh the stacks from where the stack is and not drop to 0.
Each stack expires independently so if you cast 10 blades, wait for it to drop to 7, and then start casting again, you’ll remain at 7 until you stop dropping off the original 10 blades.

What definition of "should" are you using here?

The way the game currently works is that each stack's duration is tracked independently/separately from the others. I'm guessing you reach 10 stacks, then run around so that you can kill monsters. In the time that you run, you aren't casting BV, but the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. stacks that you casted are still counting down their timers. By the time you reach 7 stacks and go back to casting, all you're doing is replacing stacks that are expiring - so suppose you cast 10 times, run around, lose stacks 1, 2, and 3 so you start casting number 11. Cast 11 replaces cast 4, cast 12 replaces cast 5, cast 13 replaces cast 6, etc. until all your original 10 stacks are gone and on your 18th cast you can start "building up" again.

If by "should" you mean that's what would make BV feel more comfortable - sure, maybe, but it would also dramatically increase BV's power, especially if BV gets triggered, so maybe you are Suggesting that there can be a threshold jewel where if you have 2-3 of them, it works the way you think it would (that 1 cast refreshes all existing stacks), and maybe limit it to self-cast or give it a damage penalty. Then I can agree with that "should"

It's first in first out.

If you cast every 0.5 seconds for 5 seconds you will be at 10 blades.
After another ~ 5 seconds, the first blade will expire.
Blades will continue to expire every 0.5 seconds.
Let's say 4 blades expire so you are down to 6 blades.

Now you start casting again at 0.5 seconds per blade.
Old blades will also expire at 0.5 seconds per blade.
So you are creating new blades at exactly the same rate as the old blades expire.
This will continue until all of the old blades have expired.
Only once the original 10 blades expire, will you start increasing the blade count.

So in this example, you had 6 blades when you started casting again.
You will replace those 6 blades with new ones.
Now your blades will start to increase again.


To stay at 10, you can only stop casting for 4-5 seconds before you start again.

yea basically...its just a pain though because then I have to stop every 4-5 seconds.
