RF and bosses that resist elemental damage

Hi.
I have a char level 86 that is RF+SR.
i noticed that many bosses resist elemental damage
(for example: wasteland, coral ruins, acid lake, promenade).

i'm dealing that issue with warchief totem (+added phys/ruthless/added fire dam), but:
1. since i'm not a totem build, its very weak - the fight takes forever.
2. i'm "wasting" 4 sockets. with those sockets i could use for example flammability+blasphemy, or other RF additions.

on most RF and RF+SR guides i've seen, they don't even use the totem - they're 100% pure fire damage.

how do they, or you, deal with that issue?

thank you.

I never played RF, but I DID think about doing so on a regular basis, thus I know at least a bit.
The most common way is elemental equilibrium and scorching ray. With some cold or lightning damage (either with a spell or just with some added damage from jewelry) you can lower the enemy fire res by 25%, which is a significant amount. Since neither SR, nor RF hit, you won't have to worry about increasing their fire res.
SR also has the built-in resist reduction, up to 24% I believe. With those two you should be able to strip bosses of most if not all of their fire resistance.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
Usually Flammability (applied manually, by a totem, Blasphemy, etc.), Elemental Equilibrium, and the Scorching Ray debuff is enough to bring the resistances of pretty much anything deep into the negative. Even if not, it's not the end of the world. Even the Shaper has only somewhere around 40% base resistances.

EE requires hits.
SR doesn't hit.

i'll need something like ice nova/leap slam/shield charge to proc EE...

i thought of 4 blue sockets:
ice nova
increased critical strikes (for EO)
curse on hit
elemental weakness

but that will require that i'll get new gloves (they're str only.. it will takes tons of chroms to get 4 blue),
new amulet (since i have +fire damage on it)
and i'm not sure it worth it,
and how it will help me to kill the bosses...

thank you.

That’s exactly what FCK42 told you...

It deals fire damage - you don’t want it to hit.

They’re separate suggestions which can both be utilized to reduce enemy resistances.

Just use orb of storms like everyone else. It's the best skill for proccing ele overload and EE AND CoH in boss fights.
For the cholouring, just use the vorici socket trick.

This trick is: use vorici or jewelers to get 3 sockets.
Craft desired colours (eg 3 blues) on the 3 socket item.
Use vorici to add 4th socket.
If you get the right colour, celebrate. If not, use vorici to go back to 3 sockets and try again. The colours of the first 3 should stay the same.

10 or so jewelers is a lot cheaper than 120 chromes to try each time.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

EE resist reduction is -50%, its +25% for the element the enemy was hit by.

Oh, yeah, sorry. I never really used it myself, so I mixed the two up.
