In-Game map / "Fog of War"

I started playing during the Harbinger league. Lately, in abyss, i am not exactly sure when, i noticed that the in-game map ( the upper right map overview or full screen overlay ) was blank again after i zoned or portal out and back in.
During Harbinger when i ran half a map and i portal out or did a masters mission or something and i returned to my map the map was still explored. The layout and visited areas where visible on the map. So one knew which part of the map or zone was done, no need to repeat those bits. But lately all the info is lost once i zone out for whatever reason. It happens after portal use, a trial or a masters mission like zana or tora in a sub-map. So when i get back to the map i am basically "blind" again and the explored parts don't show. This is pretty annoying when i don't exactly remember what the exact layout was or where i have been or what route i took. Together with the crazy lag and FPS drops this is annoying the hell out of me.. so much so that i hardly bother playing. It seems to have increased in occurrence while when i just noticed i occasionally zoned back to a explored map while some where blank. Is this something new or maybe a bug? I think you might not have enough free disk space? I believe minimap data is saved to C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\Minimap by default on Windows, not sure where on other systems, and if POE has trouble writing to this directory, you'll lose your minimaps?

Not sure yet if the minimap directory is the problem.
It was set to read-only but un-setting that did nothing as it was set back automaticly. Removed the directory didnt help or do anything as i hoped it would be recreated. Will do fresh install soon. Dernière édition par ProspectorWeran#0141, le 29 janv. 2018 à 18:58:47

Bump, anyone have ideas on how to fix this? PoE doesn't save any changes I do and the Fog-of-War resetts when visiting town.
I've checked so that C:\Users\XXX\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile isn't read-only. I've tried to reinstall. Nothing works. Other games I have installed can save their changes without problems. |

Don't know if any1 still has this problem, but I did, and I just found the solution:
1-Check that your AV/firewall is not blocking any PoE files. If they are, make an exclusion of those files. 2-Delete all the files in both Minimap folders (1 under User/Yourusername/Documents/MyGames/PathofExile, the other 1 on the Steam folder, steamapps/common/PathofExile) The second solution was the fix for me, guess folders didn't have enough space to create new minimap files (as adghar said), so they would just reset. Thanks all for responses.
I had no luck with the reinstall so this issue and lack of interest in Beast league put me off the game for a while. I am trying a new reinstall with all "anti-virus" disabled. They were free versions of malwarebytes and superantispyware so they didnt do any live scanning but /shrug who knows if it helps. I deleted everything i could find of pathofexile, it could have been old data hidden somewhere in that windows system maze... I had that issue with other software as new installs found old config data somewhere. I'll let you know how it goes :) |

I reinstalled but the error remained.
Just as i entered the tidal flats and zoned back to where i came from i saw the fog of war / blank map again. The server also crashed =p I was disconnected somehow. I tried running the game as a none-administrator and that seemed to bring some new things to light. First the Microsoft Defender (? ms anti virus of win10) threw some warnings about path of exile accessing stuff. I made an exemption in Defender for the path of exile app. Running under administrator it did not warn me and didn't throw any errors. The directory with game file that is mentioned here is still read only somehow and i couldn't change it. The disk has 59gbyte left so plenty of space. But i dunno what happened but after i got back the issue was gone. I am not sure if its either none-admin, windows defender or something else i don't know i did but for now it works.
