Why do auras have the "spell" tag
They aren't spells. They don't get increased effectiveness from spell damage. Like warcry's they are very specific in what they do.

They are spells.
Of course they don't benefit from spell damage, none of the auras do damage. There's 3 types of skills in PoE: - Attacks - Spells - Warcry Given that auras are functionally spells, and are clearly not Attacks/Warcries... Makes sense that they are spells. It also means they can be used with spell related things, like +1 level to Spell Gems mod or Spell Totem Support. |

"You know that not so long ago there were no warcries, and EC, which is a Warcry now, was "functionally" a Spell? OP is proposing creation of new skill type, Aura, and I agree with that. Just because we don't have "Aura" skilltype now doesn't mean we shouldn't have it. And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much. Dernière édition par silumit#4080, le 23 avr. 2017 à 23:48:58

" Yeah, and part of the reason that the Warcry tag was created, was to stop interactions with trigger gems. However, there is no such janky interaction with auras and trigger gems that needs to be prevented, so there's no reason to make them not spells. Not to mention how confusing it would be to have the Blasphemy support make a curse stop being a spell (Are there any other supports that actually remove a keyword?) From what OP has mentioned, the reasoning for them not wanting auras to be spells is because Spell Damage doesn't work for them (I assume they want Spell Damage to improve their effectiveness... But that's not what Spell Damage does, it merely increases the Damage of spells. Auras don't do damage, ergo, no benefit from Spell Damage) It's not like they need to lose the Spell keyword in order to make items that benefit them either, like with Warcry specific items, since "Aura" is enough of a keyword to specify them. All removing the Spell tag would do, is mean that someone couldn't use +1 spell gems items to get a boost for them (Also, if someone did actually use Spell Totems to provide auras they would be affected...) |
