DoT Build?
Hi Guys,
I am just returning to Path Of Exile after a year long break and was looking to start a new character! I am looking for peoples recommendations, I would like to do a build that uses DoT's to kill large groups at a time. The cost of this build does not matter as i can always farm for currency. I am looking for something that is Very fast at leveling, super fast clearing speeds, fairly tanky and has some form of boss nuking ability. I know its a big ask however just want to see whats out there. Cheers guys! Dernier bump le 10 déc. 2016 à 21:18:32

Well everything you asked for is kind of contrary to damage over time, but I have a theoretical build that might be what you are looking for. Not sure how viable it is endgame, but I imagine it is. I spent a long time on it and I think it is probably one of my better ones (most are shit tier ha). It has a lot of upgrade and augmentation potential. Intended it to be my first HC build, but I cannot muster the desire to play this game anymore.
Build
Passive Tree (I know the point count is ridiculous, but that is to change paths as needed while leveling.) It's a Firetrap Sabotuer that goes for mostly DoT nodes so that it can utilize Essence Drain. Uses Aylardex with the trap hit power charge passive to get 30-40% MoM effect. Also uses Kongming's Stratagem for the huge -30% spell damage taken and easy blind. Acrobatics and phase acrobatics because we are not blocking or using ES. Since we are that way, might as well get frenzy charges too. Though all this could be dropped. Blind is really underestimated. If you blind a boss and use phase run, they will not even target you until phase run ends. Blinded bosses and enemies also have less 'light radius' so if you blind them far enough away they will not chase (tested). Which I imagine works very well with the kongming's smoke cloud vortex -> fire trap. Blinded, slowed, and left standing in a sea of fire. Copy pasta so bear with it. Ideal Items & Links: - Witchfire Brew - Aylardex - Ring - Belt (Soulthirst/Ascent From Flesh/Sunblast) - Malachai's Artifice [Vaal Lightning Trap] - Kongming's Strategem [Trap, Vortex, Elemental Focus] - Kintsugi [Fire Trap, Elemental Focus, Controlled Destruction, Trap Dmg, Burning Damage, Concentrated Effect] - Void Battery [Frenzy, Culling Strike, Power Charge on Critical] - Gloves (Reflection) [Essence Drain, Void Manipulation, Rapid Decay, Slower Projectiles] - Boots (Movement) [CwDT, Increased Duration, Phase Run, Frost Wall] - Helmet (Chaos Golem Effectiveness) [Blasphemy, Enfeeble, Chaos Golem, Minion Life] A kid with a magnifying glass. . . looming down on the anthill. Eventually one is going to get you. Dernière édition par Maceless#1951, le 10 déc. 2016 à 19:03:23

Any ol' Essence Drain/Contagion build would suffice, a bit manual-evade heavy as DoT builds are wont to be, has a lot of end-game scaling potential (Low Life for Pain Attunement being one of the big ones). Pretty easy to start with Life/ES (focusing on Life mainly), with a switch to ES down the line.
Caustic Arrow is still fine. Don't know too much about it though. Righteous Fire, Life based, can go either hardcast or Totems. I'm more familiar with the hardcast variant: pretty cheap setup, easy playstyle, easily becomes tanky. Very self-explanatory to build, too; pick any Marauder ascendancy, get Life and Regen, probably Templar Radius, maybe some Fire Damage. Rise of the Phoenix is the go-to shield, Purity of Fire, and either Vitality or a Flammability Blasphemy. Can use Flame Surge or Scorching Ray as a single-target killer if you like. Can be a fast leveling build if you don't mind running risky with shenanigans such as Springleaf plus Dousing Flasks :P Life RF start off really powerful, it melts everything, but it takes a while before it becomes truly maintainable... But with Springleaf and a couple other sources of Regen, you can get away with running ghetto Low Life for large swathes of the game. |

" If you want some additional fun while leveling RF, try Blood of Corruption. It makes a lot of fun though I recommend using it with dousing flasks. You can still use it later for the ultimate RF panic button of hyper regen. I alsowanna add to this list Caustic arrow, only thing it really needs is a bow that has +2 to bow gems and +1 to gems. I make dumb builds, therefore I am. Dernière édition par FCK42#0688, le 10 déc. 2016 à 21:22:00
