Damage Conversion Question
Hi guys! I'm gonna start off with hoping it's in the correct area of the forum .. I've never been a forum wiz and this is my first post on the PoE forums anyway.
Another apology is this has been answered somewhere else, though my Googling skills, or lack thereof haven't found me an answer to my question. So Damage Conversion as the Wiki explains it: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Damage_conversion means that %More damage gets calculated at every instance of conversion, as well as %More Weapon Elemental Damage. However it also says 'If it was ever elemental damage, apply bonus' (meaning no double-dipping on % Inc. Elemental Damage). How does that work with Elemental Overload then? Does WED apply at every instance because it is a specific type of Elemental Damage (Weapon)? Or does %More multiplier apply at every instance regardless of, unlike %Increased Damage? Another question, if you have Physical Damage, as Wiki explains it, if it's converted to Lightning and then to Cold, the %Increased Lightning Damage and %Increased Physical Damage is dipped twice, while %Increased Cold is dipped once. If we continue converting to Fire does the Lightning and Physical dip a third time? Continue to Chaos and it dips a fourth time? (skipped Cold and Fire for now) I'm currently incapable of logging in due to extremely limited internet data for at least another 2 months, so I've not been able to create some spreadsheets with calculations and verifying them in-game. I have the spreadsheets but I've nothing to verify my calculations with so I'm doing it kind of blind. I'll throw in some of my assumed calculations if anyone's interested. (Don't wanna wall-of-text it any more than I already have :P ) TL;DR: How does Damage Conversion work with Elemental Overload, and how many times can you dip %Increased Physical/Lightning Damage? Thanks in advance guys! P.S.: Is reddit down or simply blocked for me on all my devices at the moment? There are no multiple 'dips'.
When it comes to conversion, basically what happens is: for each piece of the 'final' damage in the hit, all increased modifiers for *any* of the damage types that were passed through on the way to that final type are added together and applied to that piece. Any 'more' modifiers for any of the damage types that were passed though are also applied (but these are not added together prior to applying, unlike 'increased' modifiers) So if you've got 100 base physical damage, but convert 40% of it to lightning, you'd have 60 physical damage and 40 lightning damage prior to any increased/more modifiers. Physical modifiers will apply to all of it, as even the 40 lightning damage 'passed through' physical at some point. However, lightning/elemental modifiers would only apply to the 40 lightning damage. Now say you also tack on an additional 30 base lightning damage onto that. So now, prior to increased/more modifiers, you'd have 60 physical damage and 70 lightning damage (40 of that converted from phys, 30 of it from the base). Now, physical damage modifiers would apply to the physical damage, as well as 40 of the lightning damage that came from physical, but would not apply to the 30 of the lightning damage that was lightning all along. Lightning/elemental modifiers would apply only to the lightning, both the 40 that was converted from physical and the 30 that was lightning all along. And 'elemental' modifiers don't apply multiple times if you pass through multiple of the elements. They apply once and only once *if* you pass through an element. Doesn't matter which element or how many elements you pass through, all that matters is that there's at least one. Dernière édition par Shppy#6163, le 15 mai 2016 à 23:29:43

Ohh I see.. I misunderstood the Wiki's explanation completely.. It all seemed a bit too strong which is why I was so confused where I didn't get it. On the Wiki page it uses 32.5 Cold damage twice - once that gets converted to Fire and once that does not, and I misunderstood that part - I thought the 32.5 Cold damage got scaled and converted, then scaled again.. My bad!
Thank you good sir! Have a good one :) |
