PoE Servers Population.

Hello players, I just wanted to know if this game have alots of players because I suppose almost all PoE players are playing with the standalone client instead of the Steam client so the number of player who are listed in steam stats is not pretty representative of the total number of players who are actually playing so If someone can give me the approximate number of total player who is currently playing it would be nice. thanks :)

and sorry if this question has been posted a thousand times I'm new to this game so i don't really know and sorry for my crappy english by the way this is not my primary language so.

11.5+ million players (registered accounts?), ~154,300 users playing Path of Exile simultaneously is the record from 2014.

Recently with Ascendancy we got more players than at release:

37k concurrent Steam players in last 30 days

I'm sure a lot of players check it out for a week or two after each major patch, but then go back to their normal games. I have been enjoying this mini-expansion a lot though, and it's hooked some of my friends who normally give up after a couple weeks.

172k players completed merciless difficulty.

If there were 13 million accounts created total and ~5.6 million via steam, the stand-alone to steam ration seems to be one the order of 1:1 (I've read speculation of it being closer to 4:1 but there doesn't seem to be any data to back up that claim).

The 2 week audience on steamspy: 9/17 ~301,000, 10/08 ~230,000. If you use a 1:1 stand-alone vs steam the 2 week population was ~500,000 to 600,000 in the last month.

There were ~250,000 players who got at least 1 achievement in Perandus according to Chris so the population numbers seem reasonable.

Also in a recent post, Chris stated that 100,000 players only play on standard, which is about 20% of the PoE population. That would also correlate to a total population of about 500,000.

I was trying to guesstimate costs and revenue (Chris said the game cost 8 figures to make, and they are still in business so obviously they've made more than 8 figures) but don't have enough information.
