6 Socket -> 6 Link?

under what circumstances does it make sense to use a jewellers orb on a 6 Socket? at which item level is there a chance of it to become a 6 link?

" you can't use a jeweler orb on a 6 socket item which already has it's max socket count. all other socket counts accept the orb. you can 6 socket/ 6 link every item in vorici's crafting bench independent of it's item level if the item can have 6 sockets by design. if an item can have 6 sockets, it can have 6 links. to be able to roll 6 sockets, the item has to be at least item level 50. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! " fusings work differently: if an item with more than 4 sockets has all it's sockets linked, you can't apply a fusing anymore. means: a 5l/5s item doesn't accept a fusing as well as a 6s/6l also denies it. you can destroy a 5s/5l with a jeweler though, it rerolls the amount of sockets because the item can have 6 (is not at it's max sockets). age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

yeah thats.. kinda logical..
but i have a 6 socket item already (but not 6 links)... i just wanted to know if the chance of it becoming a 6 link by using fuses is random or depends on stuff like item level and so on? |

only random (with an estimated average of 1500 fuses)

" putting quality on your item substantially increases your chance to get more links / sockets. ggg recently changed mechanics in a way that items don't lose their quality after you apply an fusing or jeweler. happy linking. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! I got a quest reward that I want to make it 5-6 sockets but I used about 10 Jewellers and made it worse. :( So I should improve the Quality up to 20, and then make Sockets and Links right? The item I got is level 60. I read that it needs to be at least level 50 to have 6 sockets. |

" the itemlevel needs to be bigger than 50. you get it by pressing the alt key while hovering over the item. putting quality on your item still increases the chances of socketing and linking. you can either use vorici's bench to 6 socket the item (independent of it's item level) or try with jewelers. got some items this league where i had to apply several hundred jewelers to get 6 sockets ;-) age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
