Best builds for soul taker?
Hey guys, looking for the best way to use soul taker and take it through high end maps.

its kind of obsolete in the current meta. You can use it in a cleave build with another axe or a glorified offhand in a reave build.

Currently,
Heavy strike + weight of the empire jewels(5x) + empire's grasp It abuses the "okaish" phys deeps combined with the sick attack-speed and allows full reservation without ever stopping to attack. It also "chills" enemy's based on physical damage. I reached 7 aps and around 27k dps before weight of the empire (5x) is calculated in and the hypothermia more multiplier in a 5-link with melee splash and multistrike linked to the skill. heavy/more melee/Msplash/multistrike/hypothermia ez, careful of reflect though, you will rekt yourself even when you have resolute technique.(i survive with fortify up/6 endurance charges if i hit 4 mobs +-, any more and its game over) Enjoy, extremely fun and satisfying to play build. Peace, -Boem- edit : the char is "empireincorporated" if your interested, the belt + rings etc missing are on the char "criticallyfisted", i swap gear it's cheaper :). But you can check the passive tree of my duelist if you need a template to work of. I made a melle char in this league with soul taker and this:
I use cleave with punishment with blasphemy, blood rage give me 5 frenzies for free and was very beautiful till start rum high maps... I hit level 60 in my second day was like WTF this it's awesome, but the truth is that melee can't survive long as ranged chars. To make a melee char viaable you have to get most block chance you can get, block chance spells and other stuff, I was arround 100K DPS (Almost physical) but it's not enough, later in maps i get like 70% damage reduction but spells still killing me in one shot. TL, DR. To make a melee char works fine you will need more than a soul taker, it's expensive, with my cheap shokwave totem I'm doing high end maps without problem and with 1/3 of currency invest. Im surprised there hasn't been much development with rigwalds savagery and soul taker... that sword increases dps of axe ... put that in the main hand. you buff ST.

The best use for ST is still Dominating Blow.
DB has ridiculous mana costs which ST allows you to sidestep. Similarly, the damage of your beatstick isn't as important when you are surrounded by 100 dominated enemies. I mean, DB builds generally still suck, but it's certainly a strong ST synergy. |

Other high-mana-cost skills are Elemental Hit, Flicker Strike, and Frenzy.

I always liked using ST as an offhand weapon for Reave builds since you only attack with your main hand weapon you get to use ST for the DW bonuses and free mana.

" EleHit is virtually not a skill. Frenzy is only great as a single-target source and/or buff source. Flicker is true, but you really want to cross the 1shot threshold with Flicker+Multi so that you can stay frenzy-charge positive with Blood Dance and Blood Rage frenzy generation. ST won't kill enough, so you'll have all the mana in the world to be waiting on the Flicker cooldown. :( --- In total, +1 southpaw Reaving. None of the other options really work right now. Saving a Blood Magic support gem slot since you can ignore mana costs is a pretty serious boon. |

I think Frenzy + MSplash with CWDT Phase Run would probably work just as well, or better, than Dominating Blow.
In any case, I think southpaw Reave is the only case where Soul Taker can be competitive, and not just quirky, in the meta at the moment.
