Cyclone lockstep vs predictive

Anyone using cyclone with lockstep may have noticed something you can't do in predictive mode:
Infinite spinning.

Hold RMB (right mouse button) down in the center of the screen on your feet and your toon will spin forever back and forth in the same spot, moving only slightly both ways.

This does not work in predictive mode.
Why not?

I play a lot in predictive mode because lockstep feels a bit sticky and not as responsive.
Yes, I got a fine rig, good hardware, fast connection etc,
I'm just really THAT sensitive when it comes to reaction time, that's why I prefer the slight desync risk with predictive mode over icky sticky lockstep.

Any chance of making it work in predictive mode too?

I'm guessing it's because they can't eliminate it in lockstep.

Anyway, it would be a waste of time as first spin with cyclone has a damage penalty so you'd be under the penalty all the time while doing that trick, it's actually the reason for the penalty.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

What penalty?
And as a fakener (cyclone+ coc+ discharge) I couldn't care less.
I just facemelt permafreeze everything (3d mask).
Having a fast non-stop spin going on all the time is perfect for my needs, more hits and crits, less time far away from enemies.

I guess they could fix it giving cyclone also attack speed penalty during the first spin. In real life, the acceleration would not be instant

Yeah, there's a penalty but as a CoC build you really couldn't care less, agreed.

Anyway, the existence of penalty can only mean devs don't think we should be doing that particular trick, so I would sooner expect them to remove it from lockstep too, as soon as they get the chance.

Is this saying holding down the button the whole time in lockstep gives 50% damage nerf?

I thought the nerf was only for the first hit and then every hit after that was full damage while holding down the button.

So the 50% damage nerf happens until you release the button and press the button again to start a second cyclone?

I dont understand.
