Can Beyond Monsters Drop Maps?

My friends and I have long thought that Beyond was a good map mod to roll, more chances to get map drops right? Well, I've been paying attention all league and have yet to notice a single map dropping from a Beyond monster.

A simple fact that has become apparent over the last couple of leagues is that, for some mind-boggling reason, GGG hates it when we get maps. With this in mind, it occurred to me that maybe they disabled map drops from Beyond monsters. They can't go having us rolling Beyond on every map and occasionally getting an upgrade right? I mean, God forbid, we might actually be able to maintain 77's!!!! If we rolled Beyond too many times, we might see a lvl 82 map in this league, which apparently would be an atrocity!!

But in all seriousness, can they drop maps? Curious minds want to know.

I do believe they still can, but it was changed midway through 1.3 to where beyond map drops were much less common

Unless something has changed recently, no, they cannot.

Unfortunately, monsters such as Beyond mobs dropping maps was creating an environment where some Softcore players were entering into situations (i.e. map levels) that were dangerous for them.

To ensure the safety of those players, the map drops from Beyond mobs were removed.

As an aside, who else is looking forward to buying the Cotton Wool MTX to wrap their characters in?
