Area loading screen crashes with "Exception", especially in Highgate
Occasionally my game crashes at area loading screens, forcing me to terminate it with the task manager (waiting for it to close would take very long, if at all). I always see a little "exception"-window, but can't read what it says specifically because it vanishes before it is properly displayed.
Basically this happens every now and then since a couple of days (2.00g or f?), but inevitably in Highgate. The first time I visit Highgate it loads properly, the second time it nearly always crashes. My "workaround" is to not use Town Portals in Act 4 but only waypoints to other cities than highgate. This delays the crash for some loading screens, but usually sooner or later it also crashes in other areas. This really is a pain, since my computer is not that fast and loading and game starting takes rather long even without all the crashes. Moreover I use Zombies and Spectres, so I always have to search for new ones (usually in other areas, that also have to load ...) after every 10-minute crash ... Tried turning off/down shadows and filtering, problem persists.
Managed to read the exception message now: "Unable to MapViewOfFile in MapChunk. Error Code: 8 Offset: 1104281600 Size: 15404638 |

Also tried "G:\Path of Exile\PathOfExile.exe" -gc2 and -gc1 with no improvement ... Come on, I've played 3 Months without this ...

You're typing the command-line parameters wrong.
It's -gc 1 or -gc 2 (with a space) Also, are you using a 32-bit OS and/or have less than 4GB of memory? |

Yes, 32Bit-XP, 2 GB. But as I said, everything was fine last week. Occasional crashes for different reasons, but not that frequently. It began, when I started act 4. So either the latest patches changed something or act 4 is more memory intensive than act 1-3.
I'll try -gc 1 and -gc 2 now. The sources I found said it would make no difference with or without space, as far as I understood. Thanks for recognizing me :) |

32-bit and 2GB?
You're playing with fire there. PoE doesn't really run on that very well anymore. You're either very good at PC tuning, or extremely lucky. The real minimum requirements for a stable run now is 4GB of memory and a 64-bit OS. Everything less doesn't really run well anymore due to higher system demands from the new effects and textures and things. Like I said, I'm quite shocked you got it to work at all with that low system. |

And I was quite shocked about the official system requirements, considering Path of Exile is just a tuned Diablo 2 :)
But my graphics card is relatively good (for that computer^^, 1,8 GHz Double Core), so I'm at high Shadows, high Antialiasing and 8x Filtering. It's just some areas, like market place and some in act 4, that have rather low fps. The rest runs smoothly more or less^^. Game loading time is high, but I read this was normal anyway. |

And by the way: I'm playing with coldth, not fire :)

I have the same issue since 2.0.0f was applied ..... everything was running fine before .... and now it wont help to make the game ugly with texture =3 in the ini file .... it's still crashing in act 3 and 4 and now in act 2 as well but not that often.
I think there is a redesign needed cause poe.exe consumes up to 3gb ram ..... this is not handled with 32sbit os .... and yes I am running win7 32bit ..... and trust me all was fine before the f patch !!
